Hi,
Can't find Linacoustic nearby - I'm sure it's out there but I'm having trouble locating it. I contacted JM, the sent me to a distributor who won't sell it to private individuals. I'm in Silver Spring but willing to travel!

Thanks,
Bob

You could ask the distributor if they have any regular HVAC installation companies buying a lot of the stuff, then negotiate with the HVAC company. They may charge you a little more.

If all else fails, beg and plead with the distributor, explain politely what you're doing, you may get a sympathetic salesman.

I just managed to get the Seattle distributors to do this. Most of their salesfolk gave me the same line, but I found one who was willing to open a cash account for me.

Of course, my wife tells me that with my accent I could get away with murder :) so maybe that helped a little.

Of course, if you're prepared to travel to the other corner of the country (Seattle) I'll have 60' for you in about a week. Going cheap :)

Good luck.,

This has come up before. I bought mine from a HVAC supplier in Hyatsville, but can't remember the name. I'll try sifting through records tonight. Interestingly I've heard Lowe's advertise on the radio this week that they carry Johns-Manfield products.

Thanks for the reply. There's a supplier in Hyattsville called DWI or something, they were out. Capitol Bldg. Supply didn't have it (at least in their DC store). AC&R in Beltlsville has what they say is a similar product, ToughGard. B&J is a good source as Curtis mentioned, they have a place in Frederick as well.

Thanks all!

Hi Bob-

I'll be searching for Linacoustic for myself soon, too.

Here's a similar thread from a few months ago with some regional sources:

Mainly as notes to myself, I wanted to cross-post these sources from the DC-area HT forum...

I finally found a dealer for my OC rigid fiberglass 703 @ DC

Capital Building Supplies
(202)554-9190 Talk to Curt

they carry 703 1.5†and 2â€
1": 2'x4' box of 8 sheets
2â€: 2’x4’ box of 6 sheets

I called them up this morning and asked them about the 703 1" plain. Kurt
was out, but the sales person said they are out of stock of 703 1" plain. I
sent Kurt a fax and tell him to give me a new quote Monday.
They only have 703 1.5" and 2" FRK in stock.

I just got the quote from Capital Building supply today.
$75 for 12 sheets/box 1.5"x24" 30p 128sf/box.

They don't have 1" one. Need to order which take couple of weeks.
I'm a few weeks away from that step, so please report back with any additional info/sources/pricing.
