Channel 11 is WPXI-DT and I am not sure what the old call letters were. WVTX is a low power station. We get on Comcast here.

Sorry, as I noted in the Cleveland thread when someone corrected me, I was screwing up call letters....I meant WPXI-DT. Pittsburgh channel 11 was "WIIC-TV" when I was a youngster living in Belmont County and I sometimes still think of them that way even when I know they changed to "WPXI" many moons ago. I guess there is a "WIIC-LP" station in the Pittsburgh area but I've never seen it. Again, sorry for the confusion. I just had things backwards.

fyi. Steubenville's rebuild process has begun, you will see quite a few outages in the next week or so as lines and nodes are replaced to upgrade our area to 256 qam, HD is coming. I hope it is soon.
This is a reference to your local cable system, right?

Yes, Steubenville still does not have any HD channels on Comcast yet. I hope this will change soon.

I live in Tuscarawas County. I currently have Adelphia. They carry all of the Cleveland stations, plus Wheeling/Steubenville and WCMH Columbus. Our DMA is Cleveland.

WKYC was telling me that WTOV 9 out of Steubenville would be choice for Weather Plus. Honestly, I believe that, because we are closer to that market area. Our county is well beyond the Grade B signals. Any thoughts? WTOV told me that WX Plus wouldn't cross market lines.
WHO is wrong or right?
wtrf told me they are negotiating with comcast to be carried in hd on comcast. They hope to have a agreement before the steeler season ends or hopefully at the latest the playoffs.

Any news yet as to when WTRF-DT will go to full power operation?

I know, they never answered mine, Apparently they don't give a hoot about good public relations. I've found this to be true of a lot of stations. At the same time, they expect people to be "loyal" to them and don't want us to watch other stations from outside the area etc. Go figure!

We are very close to entering in with an agreement for Comcast to carry us on their digital tier. As far as the question about on demand I don't have an answer for you on that yet. When we have everything in order we will have an announcement on our website. Also please feel free to email me back about any questions concerning our signal and coverage to.

Thanks for watching,

I sent an email again many days ago to Mr. Stanford regarding when WTRF would be full power on their digital station but so far received no reply.
It doesn't tell us much but this is the reply that I received from WTRF today. I had sent them another email yesterday via the link on their website where you can report signal problems.

Mr. Luyster,

At this point I can't give a definitive launch date for our upgrade to full power on channel 32. We are working as a group to try and narrow down a date so if you would please check our website at www.wtrf.com for updates as we move forward.

Issue: I receive your channel 7 with fairly good quality but would like to receive your digital channel 32 as I currently do WTOV's channel 57. I understand that you are not yet at full power on your digital station. When do you have plans to go to full power on channel 32? Thanks for your assistance!

Channel: Off_Air_Antenna

Tom...can you give any more detail as to what WTRF-DT had to say? Any indication as to what "soon" means?

WTRF must have increased their power Sun, because this is the first time I can receive their DT signal.
Has anything more been heard lately from WTRF-DT regarding increasing power? I've heard nothing more from them for several months and there's never any technical information on their website.

This is out of the market but was also wondering if anyone has heard/read anything as to why WOUC-DT, ch 35, in Cambridge has been off the air lately? I like to watch them for the PBS-HD programming on 35.1 since the PBS outlet in this area has had no HD since last fall due to technical issues.

I am not sure why WTRF-DT is still not at full signal strength and WOUC-DT, ch 35, in Cambridge I have no problems getting.

WOUC-DT was back on the air tonight when I checked a little after 11 PM. I guess they just had some problem that's now been cleared up. Who knows what the situation is with WTRF-DT as they seem to keep everything pretty hush-hush regarding their plans.

Isn't HDTV Great.... I have worked in television for over 20 years, HD is the best thing since color..LOL....I live on a hilltop outside of Wheeling and I get the HD/Digital channels for 2 KDKA - 4 WTAE (sometimes) - 9 WTOV - 11WPXI - 13 WQED - 22 PITTSBURGH - 44 CAMBRIDGE - 53 PITTSBURGH...all with indoor ears and UHF hoop. The HD's come in on UHF antennas. The best HD is off air, cut out the middle man as in cable or sat. provider. HD pictures are never bad, you either get it perfect or you don't get it at all...good luck and enjoy.

Can you receive WTRF-DT, Ch 32? I understand their low power only covers those in the valley area. I get a good signal regularly from WTOV-DT but have only been able to capture a few brief seconds of picture from WTRF-DT. I keep hoping that they'll get their power upped soon so I hopefully can receive them here in Canton. I get WPXI-DT quite often and most of the other Pittsburgh DT stations every now and then when conditions are right. WOUC-DT puts a great signal into Canton. The fact that I'm using a 50' tower does help also. I'm originally from Harrison and Belmont county so I always have an interest in what's happening down that way.

Gee..this thread has been dead for a long time.....has any one heard/read anything about when WTRF-DT is planning to go full power? I emailed them again several weeks ago but no one even had the courtesy to answer. ....Also...this is a little out of the area...but does anyone know if WHIZ-DT (ch 40) in Zanesville has been off the air for awhile? I previously would see them fairly often when conditions were good from that direction but haven't seen a trace of them for probably a couple months. Last night WHIZ analog on ch 18 was coming in at a pretty good level but absolutely nothing on ch 40.
