NetStreams sells its DigiLinX line of IP-Based multi-room audio products only through certified and authorized custom installers.
There are several reasons for this, and Brent was correct -- the biggest reason is the technical support requirements.
One reason why we only sell through authorized custom installers is the mere fact that we want to make sure our end consumer gets the best service possible. These custom installers are trained and certified by NetStreams to install the DigiLinX system and they're local -- in your area. This is important because unlike other AV products holes are going to be cut in walls, wire is going to be run, and the product becomes one with your house ("Be one with the force, Luke...).
Also, since our system features the ability to update its' firmware to accomodate new features, functions, and integration (like the integration with Panasonic IP-based security cameras), the local installer can update the consumers' system software to accomodate these new functions as well release them.
Now I know some of you reading this thought....WHOA! Panasonic IP-Based Security Cameras???? Well, that's something we've been working on and will release next week. It's really cool -- you can view the camera feed on any TouchLinX touchpanel, zoom, or pan the camera. (Geez, I sound so geeky.... maybe my mother was right...).
No, NetStreams is NOT a start up company any more, but most of our resources are focused on engineering. As you might imagine we still have a lot of integration work ahead of us and we're also working on some big breakthroughs with regards to IP-based entertainment. We would prefer to put most of our resources in engineering to maintain our technological lead. To decide that we were going to sell directly to consumers, we would have to change the organization of our company, putting less resources towards R&D and more towards administrative functions like credit management, warehousing and shippping, and technical support.
If any of you are end consumers on this thread, please feel free to email us at firstname.lastname@example.org
and we will be most happy to introduce you to a NetStreams-Authorized DigiLinX installer in your region.
