Just a thought that I don't believe has been kicked around yet: Has anyone looked into the possibility of a homemade SDI output for an HD receiver? This seems a natural progression to stay on the bleeding edge technically now that the Vigatec has announced scaling for HD.
Or am I getting the capabilities confused for the Vigatec? Will it actually scale an SDI input at that high an input freq?
This possibility seems fairly exciting to me, having never heard of anyone feeding an HD signal to a de-interacer (or a scaler) via SDI and bypassing one set of A/D/A conversions.
Or perhaps the population of users with the correct equipment to discern the full capability of the signal (9 inch CRT set-up correctly, HD tuner with homemade SDI output, scaler/de-interlacer capable of handling the signal, large enough screen in dark enough room, etc.) is so small that it hasn't happened yet.
