Do LCDs need to be transported upright?

I was all set to go pick up a 55" Sony GVIV LCD, then measured my truck and realized I don't have enough height unless I lay the box on the side.

Will this damage the TV in any way? I tried a search, but couldn't find an answer.

Thanks!

Just lay it on a pile of blankets, tie it down good and don't go flying over any pot holes and you should be fine.

According to the cardboard box, in which my GWII arrived, it must be kept upright; I still have the box.

Yeah, I was at CC today, and the dude working there said if they see me tip it, it would void my warranty  .

They have free delivery, so I'll let them deliver it. Gotta wait 7 to 10 days for that, though :( .

Laid on its side and careful driving got my 42we610 home last year. It's been great so far. In fact, that's how the Sears guys put it in my GF's SUV.
