As to HD DVD vs Blu Ray, I think marketing wise HD DVD will sell better, because buzzwords like "HD" is what people want, I mean, there's HDTV, HD Radio, HDCD etc etc Blu Ray should be a computer only storage device, provided they can make home burners. 20GB per layer ( I believe, correct me if I am wrong) would make for excellent backups.

If your theory were true why is it that hardly no one even knows what an HDCD is much less has intentionally purchased one? The few I have I bought because they were a CD, I had no idea they were HDCD until I saw the little logo on the disc. There's been absolutely no marketing to educate people on HDCD AFAIK.
