No Product Wars PLEASE

First off....THEIR WILL BE NO BOARD WAR ON MY FORUMS. Get it together guys...this is a place to HELP people with what they own and not to promote it because you have one or for whatever other reason. THIS IS NOT FOR WHAT THIS SITE IS ABOUT.

Again... I repete... GET IT TOGETHER AND STOP THIS BACK AND FOURTH. Start helpng new users or talk about the product itself, in the right forum area, and stop trying to drum up business by slamming the other products. Had this with Replay and TiVo at first, then all was well. DO NOT LET THIS HAPPEN. Take it to a news group if you care to poke.

Personally I don't understand the constant comparisons by both TIVO and UTV folks. Both products stand on their own merits. Personal choice will ultimately win out.

The tone of a poster's response is more revealing of the intent of the exchange, than the content.

I welcome factual comparisons, and often learn things from them.

Some posts are so opinionated right from the beginning that all they do is foment animosity. But that's how some people communicate.

Actually, I wish there was a board on these Forums specifically for people to vent. It would release tensions, and everyone would know going in that it was the "group therapy for techno addicts" forum.

There needs to be comparisons when discussing products and ideas. Otherwise this will be only a tech help for problem solving site; which is fine, but boring.

And this stuff is fun and exciting; I can understand the overenthusiasms!

Indeed. I think comparisons are good.. And these threads, even if sometime a bit passionate (Which really just shows how much PVRs change people's lives) bring out the features, should someone be willing to wade them. And numerous people have said they have come to this forum when deciding what to buy.

However, some of those same people have also said their decision was swayed by how hostile one forum or another felt to them. And I'm not talking of just one forum. People have said it about RTV, about TiVo, and they are sure to say it about UTV. But I suspect usually they just see 1 flame and decide it is hostile, because usually the forums are quite peaceful.

I've definately learned stuff about UTV and RTV I wouldn't have known if it weren't for these comparison threads. But it is important to keep facts straight, be light on the opinions, very light on speculation, and no wild rumors.
