I'm not sure what you mean by "not into war games."

You just got done playing as a space marine fighting off demons from hell. In HL2 you play an insurgent fighting an alien occupation. If those aren't war games, I don't know what is.

The other great shooters this year are the Call of Duty series, Battlefield Vietnam, and Far Cry.

Far Cry is excellent.

The only shooters I'm looking forward to in 2005 are Battlefield 2 and Stalker. They are both very innovative and ambitious. Whether the developers can pull it off is another thing...

I am hearing and reading lots of praise for the PC version of "Escape from Butcher Bay". That is the next on my list...

F.E.A.R. looks promising.

Get Halo 2, it has an incredible online interface through Xbox Live.

Do you only play single player? If not then why not play HL2, CS:S, DoD:S online, some very fun games to play against other people

If you want something now, I'd go with Far Cry. It and HL2 were my favorite SP games this year. I finished HL2 last Sunday and went back to finish Far Cry, only half way through it. Doom3 I got bored with, sold it.

I'm looking forward to Stalker and F.E.A.R. for this coming year.

Also, for all you Far Cry fans, there's a beta version of a cool mod coming out this Friday. Here's a thread on it:

its a war game but i vote for wolfenstien: enemy territory. its much more of a dynamic game than going around shooting stuff. i have all the games you played (except cod) but im addicted to it. btw its free and for online play only.

I am in the same boat. My next game is <gulp> World of Warcraft. I tried to resist, but I've just heard too many good things. Gamespot gave it game of the year. Girlfriend is giving it to me for x-mas.

Lets not forget UT:2004 and Battlefield 1942....

I confess that I haven't had a working gaming computer in months, are people still playing 1942?

Think ill try Far Cry,lol, we have UT2004 and all the mods and it looks great in 1080i timings , will BF1942 run in 1080i ? also , what about Pain Killer ? we had the demo and that played in 1080i , anyone have the full game ? is it scary ? lol, thanks again

I'll add votes for UT2004 and Farcry.

FarCry is awesome. I've never played any computer games till Far Cry. I didn't care anything about getting a fast computer for a game. I actually got a 9800 Pro just to see how good it looks at a higher resolution.

Downloaded it and played it. Its definately in an alpha state. I like the concept, though, hopefully they'll improve upon it.
