There no relevant broadcast news journalism in the USA anymore. Cable news has become pure tabloidism. Just constant gushing over celebrities, parroting whatever government/big business tells them, and made up controversies such as the above. They all avoid anything that could cause them to lose access. I watch or read the international news outlets these days to find out what is really going on. Thankfully the rest of the world isn't as dumbed down as America so there is a higher standard.
IMO, the local stations have too much local news on in CLT these days. It's hours & hours of blabbering without much said.
(As an example of this, not one of the networks/stations would ask this question of those protesters in Raleigh. "If you have enough time and are able bodied enough to march on the streets of Raleigh, then why do you need the taxpayer handout that you are here protesting about?"
