Speaking as one who has used one a good number of times...
the sencore recorder is not exactly what you would like to have sitting in your home. There are other sencore boxes which are cheaper but lack a modulator however they come in a pc chassis with windows tools for recording, analyzing and playback. Also note that that box does not record. It only plays back a *compliant* TS via RF mod. So it must be already muxed somewhere and have PSI/PSIP/PMT/whatever data. Without this it *will not* work on your TV set.
Its easier (if you have access to the right equipment) to build your own true MPEG2 HD recorder w/o protection scheme using PC development card combos which expose the TS via APIs. Ofcourse you have to know how to code.
Otherwise these other AccessDTV and whatnot cards look like the best bet.
