ABC HD E & W is LIVE on DirecTV! - Page 2

Our local ABC network is "low power" (no HD) and DTV won't let me have a national feed either. :(

Did I not say yesterday that there was a remote chance that it would go live 24 - 48 hours?

26 hours isn't bad!

None of the HD Networks appear on my account on D*.com. I was told that is because I'm in the NY dma and the NY O&O stations are my locals. BTW - Channel 86 is up here too. Looks good.

BSchneider - Now let's hear about TNT-HD so I can watch some NBA action in HD and ESPN2-HD.... Thanks for your updates!!

Not bad? I think it's a little better than that, it's downright great!

Once again, all of us at AVS are in your debt. Thanks for keeping us in the loop, and especially so with the right-on-the-money prognostication.

The channels are listed in my guide, but not on.

I just called to activate them, and was told they have no ABC programming available. I was told it is listed on the guide, but no one is receiving it.

I qualify for it, buit he wouldn't budge. He insisted that no one is receiving the stations, even after I clued him in that many were.

What a joke:mad:

Just out of curiosity, how do you qualify in Maryland?

keep at them until you get a CSR with a clue. failing that politely insist on speaking to a supervisor. ch 86 IS ON & i haven't (yet) had a drop of anything celebratory!!! so we aren't seeing things! if you qualify you deserve. this is too good not to share!!! good luck!

DNS for CBS
O&O for FOX
Waiver for NBC
DNS for ABC...but they say they have no programming available. He said he could check to see if I was avaiable, but when programming is available I might not be...

I'd just like the truth. Don't tell me you have no programming when others are watching it.
Yeah, but D*mn..............All I am getting is ABC HD west. Apparently I was asleep at the wheel... But I do have E/W of FOX NBC and CBS. Anyway thx B Schneider for the heads up. The SF Bay area has another HD channel
post #42 of 277
I have a waiver from my local ABC, but never added ABC national because it wasn't HD. When I just tried to add it, the CSR said new law prevented me from getting it, and there was no way to add it. Is that right? All I wanted was to see my Sonners in HD just one time!
Also, I tried to get it (ABC east hd) added tonite...........two csrs said it wasn't on yet. I told them I was watching the LA feed and they said it must be from my antenna! I told the one guy that I was 600 miles from LA and I didn't have an antenna. But they did say that I had no chance to get the east feed added due to the new rules. Looks like I will be one feed short!

woohoo wow did directv come through. all my local channels are now in hd and i couldn't be happier. this is awesome. its fair to say directv is once again the leader in hd...

Well, good news and bad news.

The good news is that DirecTV has a consistent story on the new law. It's actually (from what I can tell) a correct, accurate story as well. The consistency seems to arise from the fact that if you call to add DNS channels, you are now basically automatically transferred to a DNS/HD eligibility department, and my guess is that management has for once done their job and instructed the employees in this department about the new law and its effect on D* policy.

The bad news is that its nearly impossible to qualify for Distant Networks anymore. I live in a location where I would have qualified for DNS ABC prior to the new law going into effect. I just never added it because I didn't think ABC-HD was anywhere close to being offered by D*. Now that ABC-HD is available, I can no longer add DNS ABC (which would be required for ABC-HD). I'm two weeks too late!

If anyone has any luck getting ABC-HD added (and you don't currently have ABC DNS or live in an O&O), please let me know how you did it. I'm not holding my breath, tho. I've pretty much resigned myself to the fact that I will not be getting ABC-HD until D* adds HD LIL for the top 30 markets next summer/fall. Oh well....

With a waiver from KGO, I have both ABCE-HD (86) and ABCW-HD (87). Now to add more season passes on my HD-TiVo. Thank you, KGO & DirecTV!

I've got them all! All networks! Now I can't wait to see the ABC football games to see how much better they sound and HEAR from DirecTV when compaired to my crappy local ABC!!!!!

I'm in the Boston market and it shows up, but I'm in 721 land :(

My E&W both are coming in and looking great! I now have E&W on all four and am a happy guy. Thanks D* :D

Yes, that's all you should get, the west coast feed only. Anybody in the Pacific and Mountain time zones who is getting the east coast feeds will be losing them soon per the new sat bill. If you lived on the east coast you could get all of them.

Anyone getting funky sound off of channel 86(ABC-E)? Their DD5.1 isn't right. I'm only getting 4 speakers worth of it and it's missing the center channel. The dialog is being split between the left anf right channels, instead of being in the center channel(nothing at all from it).

I'm sure it will be cleared up in time, but just wanted to make sure it wasn;t just me(all other 5.1 channels work fine).

Fresno is an ABC O&O market and I can not get DirecTV to turn it on for me, they offered to put in for a waiver and I tried to tell them I didn't need one because I was in an O&O market and they still flat refuse.

As far as I'm concerned DirecTV is the worst excuse for a service provider on the planet. I can't truly express my feelings about this incompetent bunch of idiots without descending into obscenity.

Viewers in the Dallas-Fort Worth TV market (the nation's seventh largest) can forget about getting ABC on DirecTV Ch. 86. The local station here (WFAA-TV) is not owned and operated by Disney. It is owned by the Belo Corp. which also owns the Dallas Morning News-paper. Their attitude is that if you want to get ABC-HD, get yourself an outside antenna. And, as of December 16, no waivers are available to anyone.

According to a report in the engineering mode thread, ABC/E has their DD5.1 flag on all the time, so non 5.1 shows get screwed up. If thats the case, you will have to play with some of your receivers other surround modes to find one more appealing.
