Playback problems on Vicor JVC HM-DH30000

As I have posted previously I have had some playback problems with a few BS tapes on my Victor deck. Some of the other users also confirmed that they had similar problems.

I just received a second Victor deck and immediately put in the "Ben Hur" tape which had severe playback problems on the other deck.

Surprise, the tape plays flawlessly. I am therefore concluding that some of the early Victor decks may have had software issues with some of the BS broadcasts.

Can you get your first decks f/w updated to prove this?

No, I can't get it updated easily. Maybe after JVC introduces the deck in the U.S.

The first deck does play back most of the BS tapes OK, but not all of them, so I am suspecting the firmware may be different in later units.

Sounds like it is a tad out of alignment.

Actually I ruled out alignment as a cause of the problem because the problem also occured when I played the tape on a HD 1000 connected via firewire to the Victor, and using the component out of the Victor.

Even though 2 different VCR's were used the tape played with identitcal breakup. Thererore I believe the problem lies in the decoder built into the Victor.

All my BS tapes now play flawlessly with the new Victor deck.
