Looking for sources for 1394 for pvhd1000. Locally all i can find are 4pin to 6pin.

That is exactly all you need... 4-pin firewire... just like
you'd use for your computer.

I bought a "generic" 4-pin 1 meter firewire at Micro Center
for about $7, opting to ignore the higher-priced ($14)
version from Monster.

Works perfectly with my DST50 <-> PV-HD1000.

I think the 'Bra is asking where to get a 4pin to 4pin firewire cable. I've been buying most of my cables from this place recently: www.pccables.com

They're cables are high quality and are very reasonably priced.

I bought mine from here and was very satisfied. They are in the Orlando area.
