MyHD MDP-130 - Page 17

It records them all at the same time.

My MDP-130 order from DC last night is still showing "pending", is this because I ordered the DVI card at the same time, or will they ship the 130 now and the DVI daughter card when that finally comes in?

Thanks

yes, my mother board came with 5.1 analog output, and my speakers use that.

Did you add a free cable to your MDP-130 order?

Darn it!

I forgot to add it to my order too, just emailed them, hopefully they can add it to my order and ship it with my daughter card.

FYI - I was able to fix my sound issue. Thanks for everyone's help.

On another note - does anyone else get Charter Cable in the Upstate SC area. I'm just curious what your results of QAM scanning were. It looks like Charter is only broadcasting NBC - WYFF Channel 4 in unencrypted QAM (digital cable channel 103). Everything else looks like it is encrypted. I just wanted to compare results. I realize this is kind of cross posting, but since we are talking about receiving these signals with this specific computer hardware device, I figured it belonged in this thread.

Care to tell us how you fixed it so that others may do the same?

Darn it, I did the same thing and just e-mailed the support address. It's annoying that you have to manually add it.

Edit: I just noticed that the e-mail I received from DC says that the 130 is backordered and that the card would ship on Monday (2/21).

DC has no way of knowing which type cable you need, so they give you the option to select a cable.

Looks like they ran out of the initial order they received last week. Everyone in Korea was on vacation last week and that slowed shipmemts to the US.

Exactly, the free cable does nothing for me, so it would be a waste for them to send it to me. Too bad they didn't have the same policy the last time I ordered when the free giveaway was naked pictures of Cliff.

Cliff,

Can you just use the RGB portion of the SCVM5R6 cable to do Y-Pb-Pr, like the SCVM3R6 cable? If so, I asked them to just send me that cable instead. I got an email from DC saying that the daughter card is backordered for a month, so did I want them to just ship out my 130 card now. Any idea if I'm gonna be charged more shipping for that?

Thanks

Hey guys, I'm getting the following error whenever I tune to certain channels:

Field 'V_CH_List.SHORT_NAME' can't be a zero-length string.

I get this error with both encrypted and unencrypted channels. It doesn't stop me from being able to watch the unencrypted channels, but the error pops up and if I'm in full screen mode I can't change the channel using my keyboard.

I get the error with both the drivers/app that came with the card and with the v1.65 I got from Digital Connection. Did I forget to tick a box somewhere?

Brett,

Yes you can use just the RGB part of a RGBHV breakout cable.

I'm guessing they gave you the option to wait on the Dau card to avoid paying shipment twice. The option is your's to make and stop complaining cause you're getting a free cable worth more that double shipping.

I hope Kei is not doing that again! Last time she sent naked pictures of me I had a hard time fighting off the men.

No problem connecting to a PC monitor. The breakout cable is needed for a HDTV that has either RGBHV or Component (YPbPr) inputs.

Stronger in what sense? You don't just mean that the signal strength numbers were higher, do you?

A reasonable point, but it's very counter-intuitive that you have to select the free cable before you select the card. I didn't even honestly know that there was a choice of cables.

On other sites, I have seen this done better where you are prompted to select the free option as part of the checkout process, along with other options like shipping.

Just some constructive feedback. Seeing as how the card (and the cable, actually) are backordered, hopefully they can throw a cable in the box before the card heads out the door.

Thanks,
Kevin

I have the exact same problem. Add me to the list...

I called Digital Connection yesterday for tech support with my spdif dropout problem. After talking with them for a few minutes I was issued an RMA and another card was being sent along with a call tag. The quality of the support given was great! When I need something else in the future, I'll be checking their website first.

You might want to check to see if this is the cable you need before you get it. I'm not certain what they are offering for free, but my guess is it's a cable that might not allow you to pass your Windows desktop through the MyHD card. You'd have to either use a separate monitor or connect your video card separately.
OK, stupid (or lazy) question time. I just ordered a 130 and skipped the free cable since I don't need one, well I don't think I need one. I've already got a VGA breakout cable run to my display, am I correct in assuming the 130 comes with the cable required to loop my video card through the 130?
That cable is included (it might even be attached to the card--I don't remember).
Reading this, "Credit of $14 can be applied toward any other cable (deducted from the purchase price on invoice)" I thought I could get a stereo audio cable and still get the credit, but it wasn't taken off the invoice. I emailed sales, but got no response.

Well, I really need to go home and do a quick experiement to see what exactly fixed the problem. I tried the suggested tricks with no success, so I went to plan B which was to connect the supplied "sound card" jumper cable to my CD Audio In connector on my motherboard. At that same time I also unchecked the "CD line in" mute box in the dashboard volume control (it was muted up to this point). This did solve my problem and I have perfect sound now. I just don't know if the jumper solved the problem, or the unchecking the mute for CD sound. I honestly think it was the junper that fixed it, as I would be shocked if the MyHD card was somehow sending its audio through the CD audio (as apposed to WAV). I can go home and disconnect the jumper to see if my audio goes away to verify that it is in fact the jumper that made my system work.

There are two choices of cable - VGA to component or VGA to RGBHV. Since I don't have RGBHV inputs on my TV, the choice was easy for me.
