I haven't been having any problems viewing the low bitrate that is part of the U.S. ATSC standard. I've always said that the bitrate is way too low. Be that as it may, the 130 card seems to handle ATSC bitrates without a problem, as long as the data isn't glitched for some reason, or in the case of Fox, just plain bad because of their refusal to fix their time-traveling packet problem.
But, last night after editing the 41Mbps file for "What About Brian," I had to revert to using VLC for checking out the file, as MyHD would tend to freeze and/or stop playing the audio of said freeze. Pausing and restarting would tend to get it out the freeze mode, but it would tend to no longer play the audio.
Playing the hi-bitrate file with VLC worked without a hitch.
What is it with Texas ABC affiliates using 1080i? As a viewer I would be complaining about the conversion affecting the quality. I suspect that the stations that are 1080i are so because they chose that format before ABC chose theirs. If they did it on purpose even after they knew what ABC was going to use, they did their viewers a disservice and should change. If I were you guys, I would hound the station's management to get them to use the same format as their network.
