I love Gangster movies. They are by far my favorite type of movies. I am talking about movies that depict the time period from 1929 to 1935. But here is the problem, I don't like the old movies because they are in B & W and no widescreen. Well where is all this leading to you ask?
DILLINGER - just picked this up on DVD. I saw this in the theater and have not seen it since. As I said this is a real treat for me because there are so few GM's available on DVD or even LD.
This movie really suprised me. The credits read like a who's who of hollywood supporting actors and actors who just started their careers and went on to become big.
Car Chases, Tommy Guns and 45's blazing. Period cars and clothing. It has it all.
The DVD is 1.85 and is Enchanced for 16x9 as is the trailer. The image is very good considering this is an AIP film. The sound is orginial Mono.
I am looking forward to The Untouchables coming from Paramount next year. Now if they would just give me The St. Valentines Day Massacre in its OAR (2.35) I will consider myself in heaven.
FACT: The two most famous G-Men of all time; Elliot Ness and Melvin Purvis both committed suicide. I guess chasing gangsters in real life can be tough on the psyche.
