Out of Sync Sound/Video with DLP/HD-DVD

I have a new Samsung 61" HD ready DLP TV and new LG HD-DVD player with up-load capacity to to take video to 1080 dpi. The two units are connected with a HDMI cable (both units have HDMI ports).

The video out of the Samsung TV is great, but it lags slightly behind the audio. ( in other words, the audio is ahead of the video). So the video and audio are out of sync when using the HDMI cable. When substituting normal cables (red, white, yellow) the problem goes away, but of course, you lose the up-conversion to 1080 dpi video, which is the whole reason for buying the HD-DVD player.

Any help would be appreciated, LG technical support is "investigating". I have configured the audio settings as per the owners manual on both the TV and DVD player.

Have you tried configuring the DVD player to output 720p instead of 1080i?

Samsung's DLP tv are known to have audio/video sync problems but usualy on a 480i signal.

it's the time the scaler takes to upscale the image to it's native resolution that causes this. Maybe the TV does not like to downscale the LG's 1080i feed to 720p. So i guess setting the DVD upscale to 720p will help.
