im just starting to collect dvd's. Id like to know what your favorite movies in dvd are? and what movies would be a great demo for a ht? thanks

While not many people on this forum mention it, I have found nothing that surpasses The Mummy for picture quality and a superb soundtrack.

R1 means Region 1 (North America)
R2 means Region 2 (Europe)

In no particular order in quality (both audio & video) my favourites are: APOLLO 13, BLADE, BRAM STOKERS DRACULA, A BUG'S LIFE, CONTACT, DRAGONHEART, THE FIFTH ELEMENT, GLADIATOR, GOLDENEYE, THE IRON GIANT, THE MAN IN THE IRON MASK, THE MASK OF ZORRO, THE MATRIX, NORTH BY NORTHWEST, SLEEPY HOLLOW, STARSHIP TROOPERS, STUART LITTLE, TARZAN, TERMINATOR 2, TOY STORY (1 & 2), U-571. These are real standouts for me. Hope this helps while compiling you collection. Good luck.
