Gaming and projectors

There's some warning in the Xbox manual about getting screen burn when using a projector. Well, a friend of mine and I have played by Xbox on a projector (one designed more for a computer interface) with no repurcussions. Is there something I'm missing about a home theater designed projector that would cause problems?

If you are talking about a front DLP pj or rear proj DLP you will never get burn in with DLP. I dont think LCD suffers from burn in either.

If you are talking rear projection CRT then you can get burn in .
Theres a thread on the forum called master burn in for more info.

Is rear projection like one of those TVs with the red, green, and blue lights?

Rear Projection (RP) is typically defined as a CRT.

There are RP LCD and DLP televisions.

A projector, or any device, will only get "burn-in" if it is a phosphor based device (CRT and plasma, eg). Phosphors wearing unevenly causes burn-in.

There are "Master Burn-in Threads" in both the Plasma/LCD and Rear Projection forums.
