Ted99,
The extended warranty is with Sony, I sent a email to Sony to see what they would say.
Thanks,
MW

Sooner or later the blob will be too much for me for now I try to limit viewing - I am hoping soon that the 65 inch will actually be an option. At the moment the only one who has managed it is ManWithAPlan but he hasn't received it yet and shipping date is pushed back. So at the moment Sony is unlikely to offer this to anyone as it isn't an active item in their systems. I have had two OBs replaced so far and it sounds like that is unlikely to be an option again.

My 006 replacement 65" 929 shipped today. Sorry to lose 5" of screen size, but glad that Sony is stepping up to keep its customers happy. My next problem is getting that 300 lb sxrd out of my basement...

Thank you for the information - I will have to contact them soon. Losing 5 inches isn't ideal but the green blob is even worse . tfire any advice on how to go about it?
I didn't know you treated these things like a car. But is there really a break in period? I just want to have the best possible viewing experience. From what I read, tvs come from the factory with very minimal adjustments from the factory workers (like 15 seconds), and calibrators will take the necessary time (up to 3 hours) with specialized equipment to make your tv perform the way it was supposed to be. Now hopefully these Qualia tvs might have been looked at a little longer.

Start off with a post on the, "I've got a defective Sony TV" facebook page. Don't even bother with the regular customer service channels. The responses from the Sony Listens team were super fast and super helpful. Look for Sarah Kepler from Sony she was great to work with.

I've got to admit I was kicking myself a few years ago for spending so much $ for a TV that was failing so fast, but now I'm happy to see that, at least this time, big money means big service.

Will be here by Monday. Just got the shipping confirmation. Will never see the light of day, selling it immediately while still in-box. Thanks Sony!

IMPORTANT NOTICE

I maintain the informational web site on Sony optical block and related problems with their 2002-2007 rear projection liquid crystal TVs. Sony had been running an "optical block program" for about 1-1/2 years in which owners of these failed TVs received discounts off newer direct-view LCD TVs in exchange for a legal release. This program was abruptly terminated today, and the "I Have A Defective Sony TV" Facebook page, with tens of thousands of customer posts, was turned off.

If you have a pending settlement with Sony for a failed optical block, you should probably try to resolve it quickly, as it is unknown whether Sony will be offering any future program. There is an alternative Facebook page called "I Still Have a Defective Sony TV" that can be used for general discussion/complaints.

Well so much for my backup plan if my replacement block fails on my 006,guess we have to wait and hope for the best.

I hope public posts like the one three spots above did not play a role.

Me too, but I don't think so. The more normal-size SXRD sets far, far outnumber any Q numbers. Sony has been buying the farm in TV sales and I predicted some time ago that this program would go away to cut their losses--took a little longer than I thought. At this point, I wonder if Sony is going to continue selling TV's of any kind (unlesss they have some sort of advance tech breakthru like large OELD).

Many thanks to SPLINKE for the yeoman work he did for all of us.

Sony Customer Relations:
If you are still reading this forum, here is my situation. I have the Q with low hours. I am on my second bulb, with one spare left. I know the Q is going to fail, maybe tonight, maybe within a year. I paid a lot of money, and just want the same deal as others on this forum.
Having been a long time Sony customer, I would like you to work out a deal now, for my peace of mind and your customer satisfaction.
My email is swerdlin-associates@cox.net.
Thanks in advance,
Dave Swerdlin

Dear Sony,

What Dave said.

Discussion on Facebook moved to other "defective Sony" pages for several days, but then it was decided to put the original "I Have A Defective Sony TV" page back up. Then, starting this morning, it appears that Sony has re-implemented some sort of program, although I am not sure if it is the same or different than before. Stay tuned.

I just wanted to let everyone know that Sony is still making offers to replace your Qualia.I sent an e-mail to Sonylistens.am.sony.com and recieved a phone call the next day(yesterday),my Qualia is still working so they want it shipped to them and they offered a KDL-60EX720.I would like the new XBR 65,but it's not in the system yet accordding to the women I spoke with.

I have no idea how or who is going pay for shipping the Qualia back to Sony,as I have week for the present offer, but I'am going to wait for the XBR65H929 to become more available and see if we can work a deal.

The Sony Store online shows it Instock, and I got my XBR65HX929 delivered this week.

All I had to do was send in my serial number sticker along with a picture with the event number showing on the front of my Q, and yes I still have the old set, but my Q was just starting to show signs of going bad.
Oh well, guess it depends who you talk too,and my set still looks great.

That's why they want it back, because it still looks great.

Where does Sony want the Q shipped or delivered to in order to get an XBR, etc?
Thanks,

What was their response to your refusal ?

In any of your contacts with them did they tell you they were making you a one time special offer as the program was canceled.
Did they caution you not to tell anyone or post the offer on any public sites or blogs as it was a special one of a kind deal as the program had been canceled and they were giving you a special secret deal ??
None of the above, only answer was at this time you have a week to make the deal.she did say the Qualia program would be going on for awhile yet.
