DTS making new 16mm prints !!!

... I got this from a person at DTS:

Yes, DTS is doing 16mm. Its still a relatively "new" area for us. We are
getting more and more interest from new
film makers and we'll see what transpires.

We are doing limited screenings, mostly at
studios and art houses for those films using DTS16mm. All it takes is
some wiring from the sound head to our player
(which is easily disconnected for "regular" use). Timecode is placed
where the mono track would be. We use the
existing sound head to read the timecode. All the rest is the same:
Player and sound on CD-ROM disc(s). Its quite
simple.

Alan,

Indeed 16mm movies of fairly recent vintage have been encoded with the DTS sync time code (are there any cinema houses rigged with 16mm projection facilities still alive?).
That should be welcomed news for collectors of the format since with only the addition of DTS "readers" and CD-ROM drives they can now enjoy multi-channel playback, something the 16mm format previously lacked.

Too bad "classic" films on 16mm can't be retrofitted...
