MythTV as a frontend

Hi,

I am currently using MythTV on my Mac to watch TV, served out by my Linux backend (which has the RAID and TV card). I wasn't sure which mythtv plugins had been ported to Mac OS X, but this thread offers some encouraging updates:

So it looks like we have a frontend to do TV, DVD playback, Video playback, and almost Music playback. If someone works iPhoto gallery compatibility into the mythtv gallery module then we have a complete system!!

I am going to try and get LIRC running on my Mac later for remote control, though I don't expect this to be a poblem....

Is this used kinid of like a MS media center front end? If so and you only want to use it for dvd and music playback do you still need a linux box?

Yeah, it's like Media Centre. Check out mythtv.org for screen shots.

I'm not sure about running without a backend, though I'm sure it wouldn't be too hard to bodge up somehow. Try posting on the mythtv mailing lists - see the mythtv.org site for joining details.
