I'm new at this stuff guys. Many of your posts fly right by me due to frequent use of abbreviations I'm not familiar with. Any web site recommended where I could become more knowledgeable about the basics of this technology? Thank you for your patience. Patrick

Not sure I've been here long enough to officially welcome someone but what the heck...WELCOME!

It seems that new acronyms are created daily, but here are a couple of links to get you started...

...and if you have any specific questions feel free to ask!

Make sure you memorize 'em. There will be a pop quiz on Thursday!

Don't forget, there's also a lot of jargon used as well. STB is set top box which really means HD digital decoder, as an example.

The more you check out the products and read more stuff on this forum, you'll pick up meanings pretty quickly. The big plus here is everyone tends to be friendly and helpful so don't be afraid to ask for clarification on any given thread.

Looks like you've added one yourself.

'Abbreviation' has two 'b's....;-)

The 'q' is silent, as in 'saint'.

Welcome as well. Hope you don't mind the odd joke from time to time. You'll find me in the CRT forum most often.
