I have the Sony kdf-42we655 with a screen resolution of 1368x788 and I posted in another thread that with the 6412 phase iii set at:
--1080i, CBS and WB look fanstatic during prime time shows like CSI or Gilmore Girls. However, for football and basketball, the tv looks like the picture is lagging, the bball court is grainy and the like.
--720p, sports on Fox, ABC, CBS, and ESPN are outstanding.
The other night I was lucky to watch a Pistons game in HD on ESPN, WDWB via Comcast, and WDWB via a direct coax connection to my tv. My best PQ came through ESPN with the stb set at 720p...hands-down.
Seems I'm alone in this camp. I was interested in how well my tv would take WDWB's 1080i signal bypassing the stb and while better than that same signal via the stb, the ESPN feed was still better with the stb set at 720p.
