Brand choice for longevity?

Hey folks,

I need a new PVR...right now I have a ReplayTV and I'm inclined to get another one. It seems to me that Replay tends to have more of a consumer tilt than TiVo, in terms of not caving to content providers on features.

But mainly I want to get a box that is most likely to have my lifetime subscription last until I'm done with the unit. Right now TiVo looks scary, but since Replay is privately held I have no idea how they're doing.

Also, I wish I could get a unit with two tuners so I could record two shows at once. As far as I can tell the only units that have these are tied to satellite or specific cable providers, right? I'm not interested in going as far as a full media PC or MythTV type solution due to the expense.

Thanks!

If you have a recent replay (5000 series) and get a second one, you will be able to record 2 shows at the same time and watch them on either one. You have to network the two replays to stream the shows.
If you want dual tuners, directivo is a good cheap solution.

But directivo would require DirecTV right? Or can they be used with my cable provider? I live in an apartment, so satellie is not an option (otherwise I would actually use directv as it happens).

Directivo will only work with directv. If you have cable, more replays are the obvious choice. Networking them together is the only hard part.
