I think Carrie was covering a Faith Hill cover of a Janis Joplin song, which probably confused the judges.

The audio mix was atrocious, it totally undermines the public perception of the contestants' vocal talents, which is unfortunate.

Anyhow, Janay and Aloha should get the boot, going by their performances. Celena is also a possible bootee.

Did FOX move their logo up a bit?? also i see its white now instead of blue?

How long until Executive Producer Simon Cowell gets fed up with not being able to hear the performances in the studio and the judges start wearing in-ear monitors? I've lost track of the number of times he's apologized to contestants over the last two years after "reviewing the tape"....

I'm rooting for Celena. She's very attractive and has a very sophisticated way about her.

I'm really hoping "The Nanny" gets voted off tonight. Everything about her is so damn annoying. Although I do give her credit for toning it down last night.

It seemed crystal clear last night that someone (besides Simon) had told her to knock it off.

Flipped on the telly Tuesday night to catch Idol, and was mesmerized by this singer, "Erika Jo," who knocked me out, she was so good. Then I checked the channel and realized I was watching Nashville Star on USA.

None of the girls on Idol are ready for PrimeTime. (Or at least, PrimeTime isn't ready for them.)

The FOX logo on American Idol is now being handled differently from other FOX programming -- it is being generated at FOX, and not by the splicer at your local station. FOX (the network) has never had a "blue" logo, so I am assuming the one you referred to is the one that is used by your local FOX affiliate, and should be seen during all programs except AI (and America's Most Wanted).

Interesting. Here in the West, "Logo 1" was triggered about one-second into House -- no room for "Logo 2," though perhaps this is because we don't have anything stored there.

Your guess about the reason for the different bug on AI sounds as plausible as anything else to me, though if someone was sophisticated enough, I'm sure they could capture the 16:9 feed, then crop it to 4:3 and eliminate the bug entirely.

Blue FOX bug is the default bug that is installed in the splicer before the local bug is uploaded.

Oh yeah, I forgot about that. I thought that was there for "testing" purposes, and never intended to actually hit air. I guess some stations are using it ...

Agreed. The boys are much better this year. There is a lot of talent among them. The girls are quite weak. Except Amanda Avila of course...:D

I think the judges got the Carrie underwood performance wrong. She wasnt doing the Janice Joplin (orginal) version she was doing the Faith Hill "countricized" version which was a huge hit a few years ago.

We noticed that too. There was some sort of weird echo applied to the vocals. Interestingly, nobody on our reality TV forum said anything about it, maybe it was only a problem in the 5.1 mix?

It's up in SD. j/k. My local station hasnt aired the delay yet. I'm settling with the live SD feed over curiuosity of how the results show is like tonight, and it seems its only 30 minutes and they already voted out one person within 6 minutes of the show before commercials and with no "edge of your seat" wait. Usually Ryan leaves the contestants and viewers hanging over the commercial break, but tonight is just so different.

Hidden for those who haven't seen the show yet even though I'd question why they'd be reading this thead right now then. ;)

I don't watch the show, but heard it was in HD, which piqued my interest enough to check the on-screen cable guide, which did NOT list it as being in HD. When it was on last night in all it's HD glory, I e-mailed my cable company, Comcast, to let them know they're not listing it as 'HD'. But hey, they're still listing the FoxHD channel as Fox 'widescreen'.

Aloha was a mistake. She deserved at least another week. She was the best (or one of the best) in week 1.

I llive in NJ and so get fox NY. This is the flaghsip station correct? How are my logos and HD, SD, Network local feeds different then other fox stations?

If Janay lasts another week. I'm gonna have to start voting...for everyone but her. I only watch this show because my girlfriend is into it, but it ain't half bad. Aloha should have lasted another week, and Janay should have been gone. Then again...I can't talk since I didn't vote.
