DCT6412 audio problems

Hi,

I have the Motorola DCT6412 DVR/Dual Tuner STB and I recently started experiencing audio issues where when I turned off the STB, and then turned it back on, audio doesn't come out through my TV or receiver. If I recycle the box by unplugging it boots up fine and audio works fine until I power down again (Power on remote).

I recently upgraded to the dual from single tuner, but had not experienced any issues in the first three weeks of use.

Here's my setup:

Optical audio out to Onkyo TX-SR502 6.1 CH Receiver
Samsung HLN507W DLP

Any insights anyone might have would be appreciated. Comcast is scheduled to come out to the house on Friday to take a look.

This sounds like the wonderful problem of the unit putting itself into mute mode. This usually occurs when it turns itself on in the middle of the night to record something. I have had this happen myself and after reading its just easier to leave the box on all the time.

Here is how to program an unmute for the 6412 but its posted in many other places.

1) Press the "Cable" button at the top of the remote to put it into Cable Box control mode.
2) Press and hold the "Setup" button until the "Cable" button blinks twice.
3) Type in the code 994. The "Cable" button will blink twice
4) Press (do not hold) the "Setup" button
5) Type in the code 00173 (for 30 second Skip), 00141 (for Mute) or 00236 (for Swap).
6) Press whatever button you want to map the skip or swap function to.

Also you might want to look at the huge thread in the HDTV DVR section which has a Comcast I-Guide information. lots of info in there for comcast that I have seen.
