Oh, ok. Except I completed it on both the PC and Xbox and found it to be relatively simple, although I frequently used the quicksave key. I thoroughly enjoyed the game.

At least we know why Cod was dissapointing for Raster anyway...

That's a good question.
Raster mentioned in that thread that was linked that he had a really old video card and he was wondering what a gaming PC would look like different from what he has now. A few of us remarked that was why he wasn't getting good results with COD.
I'm not really sure why the whole thread would be deleted over it.
Maybe raster asked for the thread to be deleted? I'm not really sure.

Well that kind of sucks. I was the first person to reply to your thread, and yes, I did state that maybe that is why you didn't enjoy COD too much. I was interested in what any of the other fellas thought. I guess if someone got nasty, you have to do what you have to do. If nobody got nasty, maybe the mods can reopen it?

I don't think anyone was getting nasty I think we all just had the revelation of why you were dissapointed with COD graphics. I hope we didn't embarrass you over it, I think that thread may have been helpful to others who had a similar experience and we were all pointing out the differences between your current PC and what a high end PC would produce.

You didn't close the thread you deleted it, or else a mod did. Not cool in either case.

but I agree. Deleting an entire thread is like vandalizing the forum.

Most threads, after they reach some kind of consenses or conclusion, drift off topic. Take this thread for example. So please don't delete this one, too.

I was the first to respond to your thread and I gave you valid information on the subject, yet when I get the email that someone else has responded to the thread and click on the link, I find that it no longer exists. The answer I gave may have helped someone else, but you had it deleted. So basically, I wasted my time responding to your thread and answering a question that you asked. You should have had the thread locked and not deleted. Everybody who responded trying to help you just ended up wasting their time.

Having moderated at a couple of large (one with 150,000+ users) forums, I can say that you get all kinds of requests. Some people view threads that they start as "theirs" rather than belonging to the community for future reference. It's an unfortunate attitude, as it detracts from the power of a knowledge-based forum such as this. Unfortunately, they sometimes get rather vocal about wanting "their" thread removed.

All threads wander, just as this one is wandering.

Bringing it full circle, the thread would have been much more concise had you stated that you were using a GF2. :)

Congratulations but the question had EVERYTHING to do with your current set up.
If you are going to post how dissapointed you are with the graphics of a particular game it influences other people. With your current set up there's no way you could be in a position to accurately judge the graphics for any game. In this thread you never mentioned your set up even though I personally suggested your settings may have something to do with it.

So now that we know how antiquated your card is we could easily tell you what the differences would be between your card and a newer one or high end gaming PC.

Obviously you did not know the difference or you would not have asked.
Now say you had an ATI 9800 and you were going to an ATI x800. The differences would be smaller.

Either way, I think there are a lot of people running around out there with old hardware and when they see a game they are less than impressed but would be if they had a newer card for newer games because they will take advantage of the newer graphics.

It's not the post that I think was related. In your mind you might not want to associate the two but think about it, You asked how much better than your system a game machine would be.
There's no way we could give you info without knowing your current set up.

Imagine going to a mechanic and telling him "I just don't understand why I can't get [xyz] performance from my car. But you don't tell him what your car is so he guesses and makes assumptions.
Only in a follow up conversation (In which you ask him how a mercedes might run compared to your car) is the truth revealed that you own an AMC Pacer.
it's very clear to me, but as asked, I won't breach the subject again.

More to the point, your disappointment with the game would have been completely understandable with it being played on bare-minimum hardware like that.

Raster, did you get your new card yet?
Please let us know if you see any improvements and are able to utilize some of the higher end graphics features in the game.

Now, don't expect Doom 3 to come out of your screen but images will be sharper/smoother/higher resolution and all that jazz.
