Does the type of PC Monitor effect games at all?

I'm looking at getting a 21" Sony crt monitor since they are dirt cheap right now.
Just curious, does the type of monitor, lcd, crt etc effect gaming at all?

Kinda...

If you get a "too cheap" LCD, you can get ghosting if the pixel refresh is too slow.

However, it won't affect frame rates, etc...1024x768 will be as fast on a CRT as it will on an LCD, that's just driven by your video card (and processor).
