DirecTV and HR10-250. Good combo??

I want to upgrade my digital satellite service to DirecTV.

Is the HR10-250 HD/DVR good? Is $999.00 the best price available?

I have heard the they are coming out w/ newer MPEG 4 recorders. Does that mean I will have to pony up another $1K in a few months to buy another receiver/recorder.

I am clueless when it comes to this digital satellite stuff. Should I go ahead w/ the HR10-250 and DirecTV?

Thanks for any replies!

Me too.

Unfortunately they had to submit a waiver for me so I can get the Network channels in HD.

Argh!

It can be had here for 899. Includes a five year extended warranty, free shipping, no tax, etc.

Robert and his company are very good to deal with, and Robert is a regular poster on TiVo Community Forums for any help you need.

I bought mine there a couple of months ago, quite pleased with both the service and the product.

FWIW, there are some rumors going around about how D* will handle the changeover of equipment for MPEG4, look around in the HD Hardware section I belive for more info. If what is posted comes around, HDTiVo owners will do OK.
