Chronicles of Riddick for the PC demo is impressive

Graphics are reminiscent of Doom 3, but not too dark. Gameplay is pretty cool. It's a first person shooter, but it has a good fist fighting system.

It runs in widescreen. I'm playing it in 1920x1200. You can see your shadow, which is a nice touch. I like how is momentarily switches to third person when you climb an obstacle.

The coolest thing is probably the menu screens. Incredibly innovative.

You can download it here for free with no waiting or registration:

I enjoyed the game. Nice combination of stealth and action. I liked the side missions too.

I thought the graphics were fantastic. The lighting was especially good.

Anybody know what graphics engine is used for this game? Since I've gotten this new monitor, so far these are the only engines I've used that support 1920x1200 OOTB:

Source
Unreal
CryEngine

None of the above. It's the StarEngine that they developed for the game.

I played the xbox version. Definately one of the best games I've played. Most games bore me about half way through, not this one. It keeps you interested the whole way through.

finished it on the pc. Very good game tons better on the pc a I have it on the xbox as well. Action is intense later on in the game, and the graphics were amazing if you have the pc to run it. How are u playing it at that res though? I found it ran choppy even at 1280x1024. Do you have all the quality settings on max?

my machine:
6800 gt
p4 3.0 gig
1.5 gig hyperx pc3200 ram

Make sure your running in Shader Mode 2.0. The game will default to shader 2.0++ with your video card, but that causes a huge framerate hit. Shader Mode 2.0 looks just as good and the game will run much better. I play at 1600x1200 with shader 2.0, while 2.0++ turns the game into a slide show.

My machine:

x800xt
amd 64 3400+
1 gig el cheapo RAM

Runs like butter at 1920x1200 with everything turned up as high as it will go. I don't know how to control Shader Mode.

Your XT will cause the game to use Shader Mode 2.0. Shader Mode 2.0++ is only available in the game if your using GF 6XXX series card.(don't worry, your not missing anything) If you hunt around the video options in the menu you'll find the Shader Mode setting.

This really is an awesome game, and don't forget to try out the commentary mode once you've finished it. I was very impressed with the graphics with:
9800 pro
AMD 3000
1.5g generic RAM

A few levels were ho-hum graphically, but then you'd get to a level that rivaled Doom 3 and you'd just go WOW! Definitely good ratio of stealth to action (too much stealth bores me). The commentary mode is very cool. I'll probably play through the game again just to listen to the commentary.
