i know ur question is directed at comcast but most cable companies have dropped hdnet in this area including time Warner and rcn. I wouldn't be surprised if hdnet is gone in next couple of years.

Tons of new HD channels on Comcast of Jersey City became active this last week, and given channel numbers all up at the 800 range. Welcome to the World of More.

I can see them on TiVo, but they haven't added them to the channel guide, so no listings are available. Hence no ability to schedule recordings.

Comcast systems in Ocean and Monmouth counties are finally getting new HD, including the most recent additions in the 1000s such as Gol TV HD, Fox Soccer Channel HD, BBCA HD, Bloomberg HD. Hopefully the 1000 channels move up north to the other Comcast systems in the NYC metro area. When that happens, I may consider moving back to Comcast. Until then, I'm staying with Directv.

RE: comcast NJ northwest, got a letter stating will need an adapter after Dec. 8 2011
I surmise this means no more analog. Maybe some new linear HD channels? One can hope.

So what's the situation with Comcast in Northern, NJ these days? For such a large area, it's nearly impossible to find any information regarding the current guide, channels, HDDVRs, service, etc. There's the generic stuff available on the Comcast web site, but in the past, that hasn't been entirely accurate.

I'm getting an itchy trigger finger with FiOS since they're annoying me with flaky service and the inability to upgrade to the Quantum speeds for God knows what reason. However, I'm not ready to dive back into Comcast after a bunch of years away, only to find out it's the same old, same old. Somebody hit me up with some info when you can.
