Yankees in HD from YES on DirecTV, Comcast, TWC! - Page 5

I believe out of NY DMA SPORTS Pack customers will also get the Yankee YES Network broadcast games in HD. Not 100% sure but most likely.

Someone out of the NY DMA who subscribes to the SPORTS Pack please post the definitive answer when the game starts.

I can't imagine ESPN, which owns the national rights to this game (and are showing in on ESPN2/ESPN2HD) would allow this.

Yeah, that's the only part I can't agree with Rob on.

All MLB is blacked out in the sports pack because you need to purchase MLB EI.

And there is no MLB EI for this game, so anyone not in the Yankees home market has to watch it on ESPN2.

And UPN WSBK-DT 38.1 in the Boston Market (In HD)

So in other words the early bird discount is probably going to expire with no confirmation one way or the other from D*'s HD broadcast of this game.

Sigh.


Agreed in the response to this. Sports pack has never had pro sports out of market.

My own Magic 8 Ball says that unless it is available to ALL TWC systems, it WON'T be available on ANY. That's the hard way to say that it would be extremely unlikely for just Albany TWC to have YES HD. Of course, TWC could sign a deal today and have all TWC systems on board, but that's not what we've read on AVS yet...

Hmmm isnt that not the case? Havent other chnnels shown up on TW systems but not on others. ESPNHD comes to mind, along with HDNET.

I totally agree, the maority of us will be watching SD ESPN2. That being said, D* in the past has offered a freeview of the EI package for the first week of the season.

Didnt they just buy the right to show the game? Doesnt national rights mean it must be on a channel that has close to or over 100 million viewers?

ESPN does not hold the national rights to this game. If they did, it would be on ESPN2 in NY & Boston instead of YES/NESN.

This game is like any other MLB game that ESPN/ESPN2 carries that isn't "ESPN Sunday Night Baseball". There are 3 ESPN exclusive Yankees games (2 vs BOS, 1 vs NYM) this year. Tonight is not one of them.

I guess we'll find out what the deal is in about 8 hours...

I explained earlier what I meant by national rights in this case. I meant they own exclusive rights OUTSIDE of the local markets. Maybe I am wrong. When ESPN2 shows a game, can the RSN feed be shown outside of local markets on EI? I guess I assumed that ESPN would have an exclusive outside of the local markets, except on Sunday when they have national exclusive rights.

After Months of people posting about this game being on ESPN2HD i see a rainout and the game will be played tomorrow night on ESPNHD

Either Directv screwed up in not listing the game as an EI game or it was somehow part of the agreement to move the game from Monday to Sunday.
The former is more likely.

This Sox fan was upset that I wouldn't be able to see opening day in HD, so on a lark I flipped through the guide and this shows up on channel 94. Do you think we will actually be able to see it??

This game was move for reasons that escape me. But if i remember it was moved sometime around when the expos were renamed to the nationals. Dont ya think they really should have been called the senators anyway?

Anyone know if MLB EI is cancelable? If I don't get the HD Yankee games, I don't want it! If it's not cancelable, I'll wait 'till we know for sure if the HD games will be shown and spend the extra $20.

Still says HD Specials in my guide, but maybe there's a glimmer of hope here...

With the date being April 3 in the thread title it looks like the game will be in 4:3 HD.
It took me a minute to figure out it was just the date.
