PC gaming on an HDTV

ok I have the computer setup and connected to my HDTV via DVI to HDMI
and I am just trying to decide between the MX Bluetooth Combo or the MX 3100 Combo both made by Logitech

any thoughts on these combos would be appreciated
but the real reason I posted this thread was to get input on what kind surfaces do you all use for mouse/keyboard gaming on a HDTV

I currently have a tray TV, but it is too small and I hate using it
just looking for ideas

and by the way I have a Logitech Cordless RumblePad 2
when not using a mouse and keyboard

I'd suggest the bluetooth set. If you want to be able to use them at a decent distance then bluetooth is the only way to go. The standard wireless versions I've used are only good for a few feet before cutting out. I can play Half Life 2 from my couch 20 feet away and it still works great!

what do you set the mouse and keyboard on when playing ? coffee table or do you have a better solution?

and thanks for the advice
I was kind of leaning towards the Laser mouse cause it could be used on any surface
but I am going to wait to device which bundle to get after I decide what to game on

play on the recliner ,put keyboard on lap ,mouse on right side arm rest, works good here

never seen an armrest big enough or flat enough or any mouse other than the laser mouse then would track on that stuff

every optical mouse I have tried would not track well on cloth or very smooth surfaes like wood
and therefore required a mouse pad

I am thinking about getting one the lap desk but need to decide if I want the cushion and what size
furthermore I could use this for student school work which would be nice
since I tend to do this in my bedroom

my recliner is cloth and works great,no mouse pad needed, mouse and keyboard are logitech cordless internet pro, cost me $40 bucks , the recliner is about 12-14ft away from TV , the reciever sits about a foot in ft of tv

I use the logitech bluetooth combo on my couch, keyboard on lap, mouse on the couch next to me. Works like a champ.

Same here.

For most casual gaming I'll just use the mouse on the couch cushion next to me, with my keyboard on the left side cushion.

If I need more accuracy then I'll grab a hard coffee table book, and set that on the cushion along with a proper mouse pad. I really only find this necessary for online FPS action though (counterstrike source, etc.).

Also, I haven't tried a 'laser mouse' but the Logitech Bluetooth set includes the MX900 mouse, which is a very capable optical mouse that will work on most surfaces. They only mouse I've had better results with is my old logitech corded optical with the dual optical pickups. I can use that one on the side of my leg and it works well :).
