HELP! Panny TH-42PD25 image pushed 1/3rd off-screen! - Page 7

Would anyone have any idea why my Panasonic TH-42PX25 would diaplay the image using a composite cable + HD Cablebox but not using a composite calbe + HD DVD player?

I've really confused...I don't think there is anything physically wrong with my plasma...but I do not know what to do.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,

Brent

Brent, if you are unplugging the composite from the tv and plugging in your hd dvd player and you get no picture, then your hd dvd play is not outputting a signal. Either go into your menu on your hd dvd player and change the output display, or make sure the resolution is 480i if you are indeed using composite. Why are you using composite (yellow) cable anyways? Use component (Red Green Blue)cables and take advantage of the HD!

Just send me a PM, and I'll get back to you, and we'll see if we can work something out. I would like it back when you are done, just in case.

And several have asked if anybody has experienced any problems with their tv since doing this fix. It's been several months for me, and I have yet to have another problem. Everything is working well.

Hi there,

I've been lucky up till recently when my TV( Pana 42PD25) ran into the same prolem. I wonder if you still offer loaning out the device/jig- I'm in San Diego, by the way. I'll be more than happy to compensate for your trouble , .... but just don't want to give Panasonic any more money.

HELP!

I just went and purchased a Panasonic Viera th-42pd25 from a guy on craigslist....When I saw it at his house, the picture was fine. But when I brought it home and set it up, I can only see about 6'' on the left side of the screen of any channel. The setup screen displays fine, but all channels and dvd movies show only the 6''. I have read multiple posts so far tonight, (the last 45 mins!) and I think I am having the same problem, where the part TXNPX25JIGS could fix...I don't know much about television, and would appreciate any help that is offered...Am I right with thinking this part would help? Am I missing some steps in setting up my television? Please help me if you can...

How are you hooking up the DVD to the TV? Using HDMI, Component, Composit, ??? That would really help.
Thanx for the quick reply....I have the dvd player hooked up though input 3 on the front of the panel. I just unhooked it though, since I can't get that, or even cable to work right. It looks like the whole screen is shifted to the left, weird..

Wow, I REALLY appreciate all the help here guys.....I couldn't keep up with all the suggestions on what to do. Good thing I didn't rely just on this forum to find out the answers on what to do. I figured it out without any help from here. Thanks again.

I have had the same problem as everyone else except mine was at 1/3 screen for analog signals for months with HDMI working fine. Now I get no screen on analog and HDMI works fine. I was able to get ahold of a JIG and i go through all the steps.

At the very end where it flashes to yellow and purple and restarts itself, mine does not do this. Once mine flashes to yellow after selecting and then to purple it gets stuck on purple and the TV does not reset itself. Ive left it there for twenty minutes and it just sits on the purple screen. I tried just restarting it manually but then it gets stuck in service mode. Ive tried at least a dozen times with no luck. Any help you guys can give would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks!

Does anybody have a TNPEEPJIGS they are willing to sell or rent out via paypal? I've had one on backorder for two months and can't find any online stores that carry them. I would really appreciate the help, I have the 37PX25 with the 1/3 screen analog only problem and pixelating ATSC tuner. Thank you very much!

Hey everyone. I was at a friend's house who told me when he watches DVDs on his Sony DVD player (using composite connection) that his color is incorrect and the picture is shifted to the left by about 1/6 (several inches to left). The colors seem to be mismatched: blues = pinks, reds = greens. He has a VIP722 DISH receiver using Component cables on Comp2 and the DISH picture looks great, no color or alignment issues. When I disconnected the component cables from the DISH receiver and plugged them into the DVD player, the color and left-shift issues remained. I tried another DVD player from my house with same result. It makes no sense especially because I'm using a component connection on the TV which works fine on one device (DISH receiver) but gives the color issues/left shift issues on 2 separate DVD players.

At this point, I think its a software issue and certainly would like to try that because it seems to be the cheapest route. Has anyone else on this thread experienced the weird color issues described above?

I have not tried to purchase the JIG but figure by July 2009, they probably don't make it anymore and its not on eBay, etc. For those seasoned veteran users of the "JIG", do you think I should give it a shot? Does the JIG simply make changes or can I update the firmware in the process--I'm sure my friend's TV does not have the latest firmware if he purchased it new in November 2004. I would be more than happy to give a deposit in exchange for renting the tool from one of you folks if my symptoms warrant. Thanks for your help!

The jig resets the eeprom and is worth giving it a try. I can't guarantee it but I have had no issues since I reset my eeprom using the jig. I have never upgraded the firmware. If you would like to borrow the jig, send me a private message and I can send you instructions on borrowing the jig for a nominal charge.

So I called Panny, they didn't have much for me, got me some numbers to some repair shops. I called them and they haven't even heard of this JIG and didn't know how to help me either. I think what separates my issue from most of you is that when the satellite receiver is hooked up via Component, it works FINE. When I use the SAME cable on (2) different DVD players, the colors are off and the picture is shifted as you describe.

I wonder if this intermittent problem would be resolved by the tool?

I too am looking to borrow or rent the jig for a fee if anyone has one available.

Have you had any luck finding a jig? I have a TH-50PX25 that is doing the same thing. Anything you could help with would be great. Thanks

Since the TNPX25JIG seems to be extinct these days (calling Panasonic and every semi-local repair shop in west central Florida), would any users be willing to sell theirs? Or even better yet, "rent" me theirs for a week?
It sounds as if it's a one and done fix according to the other posts.

I'd be willing to pay to borrow one for a week. Any takers, please let me know.

I recently started having the same issue of 1/3 screen shifted like the rest of you guys. Please help where to get this JIG and whats the part # for the latest version of the JIG. SOS
post #204 of 282
Folks,
I have this JIG available for rent. I have rented this JIG to several folks already and every single one has been able to fix the issue. $45 rental to fix a TV worth a thousand bucks is a cheap way to restore your TV. send me a private message if you need to rent this JIG.

Guess Panasonic got tired of people fixing their own issues - the TNPEEPJIGS has also now been discontinued.

Thanks to all who have posted excellent detailed repair information for the image-shift issue. I was very optimistic after finding this thread, but unfortunately the suggested JIG is no longer available. Does anyone know if there is a 3rd generation new version of the JIG? If not, would anyone be willing to part with one (or rent one) that is no longer needed?

Thanks.

I have the jig available for rent for a very modest amount! I do expect a deposit which I will promptly return after getting my jig back. send me a Private Message and I will send you instructions on how to rent the jig.
