HELP! Panny TH-42PD25 image pushed 1/3rd off-screen! - Page 8

My TH-50PX25 plasma just started with the display problem others have cited in this thread. The display is just over 5 years old now.

I too have searched for the jig and had no luck finding one on the web. Would any kind soul be willing to loan me theirs? I will of course be happy to compensate said soul for his or her trouble.

Cheers!

I too have the 1/3 screen shift on my TH-37PD25. I'd welcome the chance to rent the appropriate jig. Many thanks!

kmsutra, I have a Panasonic TH-42PX25 with the 1/3 split screen issue and I've sent you a PM to request rental of the TNPX25JIG tool. Anxiously awaiting your reply!
yet another disgruntled panasonic plasma owner saved by this forum Thanks to kmsutra for the jig and crabbon and others for excellent step-by-step instructions. Still won't buy another Panasonic after they discontinued (twice!) the part required for this relatively simple fix to a well known problem.
anyone having the issue, please send me a Private message. I am renting this jig out at a very nominal fee.

Basically, the format goes something like this:

You contact me via PM (Private Message) on this board.

I confirm your issues is one that I believe the JIG will fix.

We agree upon the terms, I send you the JIG, and you return it when done.

Again, this is only if you can't find the JIG and wish to use me as a last resort.

I posted the following as a separate thread but got no hits so I am trying here.
My old EDTV - Panny TH-42PD25 in the bedroom has no audio unless I unplug it and replug it in. At first this occurred sporadically but now every time I turn it on there is no audio until I unplug and replug it.
I also tried the headphone jack in the front and no audio there either so it is not just a speaker issue. I'm afraid it will get to the point where replugging won't work.
Any suggestions?

Thanks for everybody in this topic.

I'm outside US and I was able to buy a JIG in e-bay, I just got it, and 5 minutes latter mine 42PD25 was fixed. I searched for people that had bought it in the past in e-bay. The JIG is just impossible to find.

So I'm thinking in selling the JIG. But I have to charge >100.00 because it did cost me a lot to get it down here in Brazil. My JIG is an opportunity for someone outside US that cannot rent from the US guy above.

what was your search on ebay? i've been looking for it forever and havent been able to find it

Hello, I have a Panasonic TH-42PD25 with the no analog channel problem. Would the jig work to fix this issue? Would you have it available to purchase/rent/borrow?

my email is staugb@aol.com

First of all, I followed instruction esoh has posted on 11/28/06 (thread# 61) to order a jig. Here is how.

1. Called 800-211-PANA (7262)

2. At the voice prompts said the following:

"Customer Support" then "Parts and Accessories" then "Plasma TV" then "Buy Direct"

3. Got support person on the phone, asked for TNPEEPJIGS (updated version of TXNPX25JIGS)

4. Paid $50 plus s/h, total of $63.74 by credit card.

5. Ordered on 12/27/07, received on 1/4/08

To fix my TV, I followed instruction crabbon has posted on 3/8/06 (thread# 38) and doug8867 posted on 6/27/07 (thread# 95) also went to BruZZi's website to go into service mode.

Trick was to go into the service mode, and after you get in there, it is really easy. Here is what I did.

1. Unplug everything from TV except for power cord.

2. Plug a coaxial cable from cable box to "Antenna-A Cable In" behind TV (my cable box was hooked up to HDMI input and it does not work when fixing this problem. Only things need to be hooked up to your TV is the power cable and coaxial cable to antenna-A)

3. Remove ONE screw in the back of the plasma in the TOP LEFT to access connector PA23.

4. Plug in the TNPEEPJIGS, and turn on the unit.

5. Using the remote control, press the {MENU} button, {Set Up} then {Program CH}

6. From "{nput Set Up}, change {Antenna A} to {Cable-Only} and "OK." TV will ask you to search all channels. Press "OK" and let it do the work. It may take for 5 minutes to scan all the channels, but without going through this step, I could not get into service mode.

7. After all the channels are scanned, go back to {menu} and select {Timer} and set sleep timer to 30 min. Still don't know why we have to do this but I guess this is the trick to get into the service mode that Panasonic set up, so us consumers have no way to get in.

8. Press {Exit} twice to exit menus.

9. Tune to channel 124. No picture comes on the screen but it is okay. Mine said no channel available after a few seconds. Why 124? I don't know, but I guess this is another trick to get into service mode.

10. Press and hold {VOL -} button ON THE PLASMA TV. "CHK" appears in on top-left corner followed by 5 letter/numbers (which are the cumulative hours in hex numbers)

11. Press the {POWER} button ON THE REMOTE. Screen will change and serviceman adjustments modes comes on as below.

MODE...
MTS...
CLOCK...
VIDEO...
HDEF...
VDEF...
DAF...
OTHER...

EEP (this is what you use to fix the 1/3 screen problem)

12. Press {CH+} {CH -} ON THE REMOTE to select EEP.

13. Select {AREA} and press "OK"

14. Press > cursor button twice to select "15 9C FIX", then press "OK"

15. Select EEP "EX > IN" and letters on the screen highlighted purple flashes to yellow then the data transfer starts.

16. About 30 seconds later, TV will shut itself off and comes back on.

17. Turn your TV off and remove the TNPEEPJIGS, screw back the service panel cover.

18. Turn you TV on and enjoy your TV! I also had a problem with component inputs (using these terminals, pictures were terrible...black & white with a lot of snow on top of 1/3 screen problem) but this was also fixed at the same time. Now I enjoy digital picture with my DVD.

If it wasn't this forum, I had no way to fix my TV. I just want to give all of you a big thank you and I also made me decide to take time to post this to help others who still have the same problem. Hope this helps

I purchased a new 50" for the living room and now this TV will not work in my bedroom with the non HD signal from my dish receiver. I am getting the wrap of the screen like the others have mentioned. Please help.

I have the TH-42PD25.
My screen is shifted to the right 3/4 leaving 1/3 mirrored screen on the right side.
Looks like picture in picture - almost double viewing with a wavy black line down the 3/4 mark. Only seen when using component or composite cables.
HDMI are fine.

TV repair says digital board...320 bucks.

Wonder if the "jig" is actually the problem.

Ideas?

I have the same TV as you and had the exact same symptoms. I rented the jig for $50 from kmsutra and it fixed probelm easily. Probelm is corrupted firmware in one of the TV's EPROMS and the jig will overwrite the corrupted program with an updated version that is not prone to corruption as the original was. Trust me, it works and it's easy to do!

Just an update.....I am awaiting a jig that I have rented.
upon further investigation it seems there was a service bulletin placed on this problem by panasonic Dec. 2004
I do not know how to link a pdf file from the internet but I found it by doing a search in google for : pa23 panasonic
The top result was listed as "ServiceGram" It is the pdf file of the bulletin.
It has all the instructions on how to fix the problem with color pictures of the jig and the access panel on the back of the TV
There are also picture samples of 4 types of screen problems.
mine was symptom #1
Hope this helps someone!

OK I think I figured out a link:
