Let's keep all info regarding E* adding Voom HD channels to its lineup here. Official word should come shortly.

I don't want any excuses to have to keep the Voom death thread up any longer than necessary. ;)

Looks like Monsters HD made the cut. :)

Like I said in the other thread, glad I waited to pick a provider!

E* it will be.

:)
Well I wonder how many cable companies or even DirecTV get on the bandwagon, unless of course this is an exclusive deal between DISH and Voom.

CPanther you're hearing voices now too? Where did you get this from :)

That's a good point/question. Will these Voom channels be exclusive to E*, or will others be able to get them as well?
As I posted at SatelliteGuys they will not be exclusive to Dish, they will also appear on cable systems around the country and have also been offered to DirecTV

What other channels made the cut?

10 channels? If I had to guess I'd say:
Monsters
Rush
Equator
Rave
Animania
Gunslingers
HDNews
& 3 "Cinema10" type channels with various movies.

Does anyone actually watch Ultra, Gallery and Auction?

I'm probably wrong on most of them, but that's my guess...

Gallery sometimes good to watch...

You forgot Worldsports - that's one of the safest bet to stay
I highly doubt Animania will survive and GuyTV or DivineHD not - that'd be just too weird... also I really like HDNews but I'm not sure about them... maybe a beefed up one?
Worldcinema, Filmfest and KungFu may could survive alone, that's possible and I think even Divine some chance but Majestic and GuyTV probably will merge...

Even though it's not the best outcome but I think most likely Worldcinema will join Filmfest, Majestic maybe pairs up with GuyTV, I'd keep KungFu alone and soup-up with extra material, Worldsports will digest Rush, Monsters, Rave, Equator is a given, probably Gunslingers too - this is 8 channels, figure out two more by your taste. :)

My biggest problem with E*, based on when I tried them about 2 years ago, is their very inconsistent PQ. I recall many channels appearing fuzzy and very low in contrast, a real 'washed out' look. I can recall my wife walking by the TV at one point and saying "I feel like I need glasses". I'm not sure if this is still the case. Now, to make matters worse, it appears they've entered the "low rez game" which D* pioneered.
This is excellent news. I just got E* 4 days ago and I love it. The 942 receiver is amazing.

Will these additional HD channels be included in the HD pack or will there be another package to subscribe to in order to get these channels?

-- VOOM HD originals will appear on DISH Network

Rainbow Media Holdings LLC today announced that it will operate
and launch the VOOM 21 HD Originals, an innovative suite of 21
high-definition channels, for distribution to cable operators and
satellite TV providers. Rainbow also announced today that it has
concluded its first major carriage agreement for the channels with
EchoStar Communications Corporation, which will carry ten of the HD

Rainbow, specifically designed for the growing HD audience.
"Once again, Rainbow is proactively addressing a growing viewing
need within the marketplace," stated Mr. Hill. "From a sales
standpoint, we are very excited about the potential of today's
announcement. Consumers now demand content that maximizes the HD
viewing experience and Rainbow will be the only content provider in
the market filling this lucrative void. VOOM 21 HD Originals will also

You are going to go with D*? Stop the press!
Boy, that does stink (since I have D*). My neighbor used to have VOOM and I loved Rave and Worldsport. Any new HD subscribers trying to decide which way to go would be hard-pressed to pick D* at this point. I won't switch solely because of ST, but if it weren't for that I probably would. I would be in heaven all of a sudden having 10 new HD channels....

I am currently month to month with D* having shut off D* a year or so ago for Voom and reactivating my recievers. I cut Voom off last week. But now Im not so sure I should sign a contract with D* for the 200 dollar rebate on the HDtivo. I wouldnt mind waiting for D* if they gave an announcement as to what exactly we are waiting for nationally and when it was going to happen.

The good news is that the news releases didn't say anything about the channels being exclusive, so hopefully at some point D* can get some or all of them. They may have more pressure now to try and get at least a few national channels up sooner rather than later.

Wow, major advantage to Dish. IMO, Direct is now under the gun to quit flapping their gums and start delivering the goods.
