If they went with a non- or low-glare glass, that will soften the picture (and the colors) a little bit more. A trade-off that many people are willing to make to get rid of all of that glare off of a smooth glass screen.

Absolutely no fan noise at all.

I have not seen any smudges or rainbows. As to the comments on a grainy picture due to a rough screen, I am not sure if I would consider the picture grainy. This may be one of those issues that you only notice if you put the TV side by side with another TV, something I probably won't do in my living room.

Other Info:
I am sure this will also be asked when people start getting their TVs. When you turn on the TV, the screen defaults to the TV Guide grid. You need to press the Tv Guide button to see the regular picture. I checked setup and could not turn off this default setting and was a bit concerned as that would require me to possibly always use two remotes. However, i did find that you can turn this setting off from the TV Guide screen itself. Setting for the TV Guide ption are controlled from it's own menus and not from the std menu.

New News: My TR46x3 stand arrived yesterday. Gotta love Amazon and UPS. Ordered the stand on Friday, and it arrives on Monday. I selected the free super saver shipping that promissed 5-9 days, and I got it in 3 days including the weekend. Expect pictures of an 'official' setup on Friday. when I get back home.

Do you have a surround system hooked up? Any lip sync problems?

I have a surround sound on my HLR-6167w and haven't noticed any audio lag at all.

Good to hear! I can't wait to see one of these in person. Tweeter is supposed to have them in the store later this week - only the 46 though, I think.

hopefully by the end of the week, I can join this thread as an official owner of a HLR5667. At that point, I'll be able to test out the lag issue first hand and report back.

I too am waiting for my 5667, I previously had a pre-order in with TVA but with doing some searching I found a lower price with another dealer on th both the box and the stand. I am very, very excited to get the TV. This waiting is killing me!

Try this experiment for us - take the audio output from your DVD player and send the digital part to your receiver and the analog part to your TV. Then see if there's any echo. That's probably the easiest way to test for lag.

I just got my HLR5067 today. The set was delivered at 11:00. At 1:00, Time Warner showed up to install the HD-DVR. I requested the 8300, but the cable guy arrived with the 8000.

The picture is outstanding right out of the box. I used the THX Optimizer from the Star Wars DVD. I made a couple of minor adjustments. It looked pretty right on to me. However, I am not a pro. I still need to read the manual to learn how all of the gadgets and settings work.

I have the cable box connected to the TV using a DVI -> HDMI cable. The audio is connected to my receiver through a digital optical cable. On the analog cable channes, I did notice a lip sync issue. I did not notice it when watching an HD or digital channel.

This set really looks great. I will try to post some pictures of my setup as soon as I can. It will probably be early next week.

MSHAP did you notice the lip sync issue on analog coming from the stereo (receiver) speakers or the tv speakers or both???

anyone else ? i have dish HD dvr box 942. anyone else with dish and a 67 series notice lip synce problems????

Okay...I posted yesterday in the 2 other threads about the HLR series that there were some audio synch issues with this television.

Here's the skinny:

I watched several show's last night (in HD), and didn't have the synch issue...it seem's that I was having the synch issue only on those same HD channels with SD content. I don't think that really matters (whether or not it is SD/HD on an HD channel), but I could be wrong. They're still outputing the channel in HD, right? I'll be checking this again today, as I only got it yesterday at lunch time.

The colors are beautiful, I haven't done any adjustments at all, until some of you guru's give me a good starting point. I'm working on an OTA antenna, but that may take the weekend to get that done. My wife hasn't really let me start "playing" with the TV too much. She had to see her CSI in HD...it's been 2 months for gosh sake!!!

If there is anything you guys would like me to do, or information, let me know...I'm going to be goofing with it all weekend, and watching the forum.

Madjimi - I have not tried to connect the audio out from the cable box to the TV yet. So far, it is only going through the stereo. I am in the middle of moving, so I didn't get a chance to experiment much. I will have more time to play with it Sunday or Monday and I will post my results.

What stand is everyone here using for a 5067?

Basically I want something to hold a 50" tv (46.5" wide) and my satellite speakers that are each 3" wide. Any suggestions? This is really the only thing holding me back from getting a 5067, oh and seeing it in person too. haha

On your cable box go to the settings menu and look up the setting digital out and make sure it is set to dolby digital. When I first got my HLR-6167w there was a audio delay and when I change the digital out from HDMI to Dolby Digital it fixed the problem. I think it is your cable box. As I have not noticed any lag or lip synch problems on this tv.

Do we know if the TV's own speakers can be used as a center channel in 5.1 surround sound?

Whoo-hoo my 5667w has finally shipped it should be at my house 1 week from today, I cannot wait to give my impressions. Had the HD setup by Directv yesterday.

Why would you want to use the TV's speakers for center channel? Hopefully your audio system has much better speakers than the TV and using the
TV's speakers would badly degrade the critical center channel material. Lew

Hello, could a 5067 owner please get out their tape measure and tell me the exact width and height (inchs) of the screen display?

I have almost decided on the HLR6167, but am concerned about ventilation needs for the TV. Let me try to describe where the TV will go. I have built a cavity into a wall in my theater room downstairs that I am finishing. The cavity has an outside opening of 63"W x 28"D x 41.75"H. However, the way I have it framed, the inside "ceiling" of the cavity is 48" tall after the first 5 inches. (measuring in from the front)

The dimensions for the TV are: HL-R6167W 56.9 x 18.4 x 41.6.

My plan would be to tilt the TV slightly to get it into the cavity, then set it upright just past the 5" mark where the ceiling is higher. That gives me 3 inches on a side and 6 inches above the tv, and an extra 5 inches behind it.

My concern is how much heat is generated by the TV and if it will dissipate okay in the confined area.

I can drop down to a 56" model, but I really want the 61".

Any thoughts on this?

They are getting closer, in another few months they might be here.

Anyone that has this model that had a older Sammy comment on PQ, and is the audio delay still a issue with these??
