It is the Guide Clock you must have for manual, scheduled recordings, not the FP Clock. (Though, it usually returns if you get the Guide Clock, AFAIK. The FP clock can lag behind the Guide's Clock x seconds (minutes? hours?) upon power-up.
After you did the 653 Reset, did you turn-off the unit... then back on? Not until I turned mine off-and-on did the FP clock return.
Therefore, here is what I know so far, with and without TVGOS data:
I had TVGOS via 25.1 WVIZ Cleveland - - - They pulled it in November. I have had unplugs, lockups, and resets (Guide and 653…) since I lost TVGOS.
I still have a BOTH CLOCKS.
I would like to know why some units apparently do not have a GUIDE clock from a reset or lockup or whatever.
For others reading this, if you do not have the Front Panel Clock, do you have a Guide Clock? (Bring up Guide Menu and see top-left area of the Guide Menu for the Guide Clock. (We are talking about TWO clocks.)
If your Guide Clock is "--:--", then yeah, no manual scheduled recordings.

OK --- I am going back to my 250 to do a Midnight Factory Guide Reset until I get to next Thursday's reset to sync-up the days of the week.
