Is this valid? On my TiVo, the season pass defaults to recording both new & repeat episodes. You manually have to change it to only record new episodes. Continuum would record as a season pass just fine from Syfy if you left the default record settings in place.

I saw that TV, it's 3D with glasses! I think the day they make a 3D TV that does not need glasses to view I will consider buying one. However I did see a 32in Sony model with internet TVGOS and internet apps, and build in 8gig DVR way cool! I am gonna pounce on this one when I can get it at my price!....

If you wanted to managed the duplicates. From the old days I still keep a Word document of weekly recordings. Not that I don't trust computers.

Call me lazy, but the EX700 to 720 have a presence feature that blanks the screen when no motion is detected for a selectable period of time. It will shut off if detects no motion for 30 minutes after that. It's an option I love. It also has a great picture.

I am just facing reality! TVGOS for my DHG 250 or XBR32 are not coming back! That was the determining feature that convinced me to buy the TV and DVR. I just thought the TVGOS was way superior to any guide a cable box will give. So naturally I will have to migrate up to internet devices and the fact that this TV has a built in dvr is an added plus! sort of like pausing live TV and rewinding to get what was missed!....

But does it have a place for your cable card? While it's true that V10 TVGOS can map raw QAM channels, it only has a 24 hour guide. But it does look nice. There must be a thread on the forum where you can get some feedback.

On your TiVo, are your QAM channels listed in the program guide or channel lineup? None of mine are. Just my cable company's analog channels (all I am allowed w/o a cablecard). And if the channel is not in the program guide, the TiVo just doesn't let me do either a Season Pass or, as I mentioned, a manual record.

With my DHG, even though the initial channel line up were the analog channels too, I could manually edit them to their HD QAM channel equivalents, and record the shows in HD.

As with TVGOS, my clear QAM channels (120) are found during a channel scan. No card means no lineup or listings for me. I've never had a cable card in the DHG. On the DHG, I would tune to the channel then hold down the red button to get to the manual recording panel. With the TiVo I would do almost the same except I needed to hit the TiVo button after tuning to the channel. I would get several warnings that the channel I selected was not in my lineup, so I broke down and rented the cable card. I also still get 22 analog channels, so on the DHG I can map the HD networks and still use the listings. That will end soon. Manual recording does not let you have a Season Pass or use "regular" with the DHG (but manual does M - F).

I don't know if I was successful, but on my 32XBR6 I was also getting the 4 dashes like on my DHG, so out of curiosity I change my TVGOS zipcode from 12568 to 19801 DE and got the clock back!

Oh, that might be the step I missed. I never did a channel scan on my TiVo. I just accepted, as is, the channel lineup derived from my cable company selection.

Good move. I had done a scan when I first bought the unit. After the cable card was installed I saw about 100 channels. That was wrong. I did a rescan with the card and it jumped to 300. Not to mention cable likes to change channels sometimes. My last change was in the summer. The headend that feeds my mother has had several since they are catching up to my lineup.

Last week I was outside my mother's house. I looked up to follow her feed. I saw a 1 to 4 splitter, covered with ice, exposed on the trunk. Below it was a phone box also open to the weather. Makes you wonder.

I probably should have said Sony scan, not TVGOS scan.

I think izzy is talking about the Google (Sony) TV. It has an 8Gb "DVR" used to buffer the input feed for a pause function. My Sony Blu-ray has 2Gb used to buffer streaming internet content or BD extra internet content. It helps my performance when listening to Pandora while online.

I did. But I don't see anything about a "DVR" of any size!

On the first link I posted to Joe it does say DVR 8gig, obviously it is not a real DVR just a pause feature, just in case you have to you know what! That kind of like the new car radios that allow you to backtrack on something you missed! Even I figured that out, technically its a recorder, but not one to record shows, just to pause, backtrack to see something you missed, you know...

I think it's like the DHG "Memory Pro Stick". Marketing getting too far ahead of themselves. The original link from Aztec does say "DVR 8GB". Then again, they did leave out MPEG-2 support. That should be fun.

Sony would still be making DHG's if not for TIVO's lawsuits. I can't blame Sony for that! Yet we are considering buying TIVO's! If Rovi did not bail out of supporting TVGOS OTA/Cable we wouldn't be having this conversation!....

Well, we have people here for the past two months calling the DHG "a brick". I'd have to say that the DHG (even without TVGOS) is more of a DVR than this "DVR 8gig" that you're trying to get people excited about!
