Shouldn't setting the ZIP to 00000 have made life easier on the CPU? Why is DHG getting so confused?
If I use Chapter marks, it especially seems to exacerbate the problem. Even more frequent, when it gets confused during the normal 3x,9x,90x commercial skips, it jumps right to the end 'stop' menu.
Has anyone else experienced more frequent freezes when FF'ing?
Do you have a FPC? (Thus, TVGOS Patch). I am not sure, but it may be more than just having the TVGOS shutdown for stability. All I know is with my DHG when I did a User Config Reset, it cleared the Patch and I did not setup the Guide system. I have had no more hard lockups since then. Was it one or the other or both that did this?
Perhaps there is a difference with having lockups by not setting up the TVGOS versus the 00000 zip code turn-off?
Also, try to have some of your playback features at their default settings and see if that helps: (Menu > Preferences > Recording)
FF/Rew (Have them all checked)
Slow Speed (Have them all checked)
Smart Cue Adjust (Here are my adjustments - which may have nothing to do with lockups or ‘jump-to-end’ at any setting - - - I have not played around with it too much to see if it made any difference):
3x 9x 30x 90x
I find that the more I use 90x FF, it will tend to jump to the end than FF at 30x.
It was not until late last year until I discovered 'Left-Arrow' of the navigation ring to take me back to same spot. Just last night it would not play or FF after a ‘snap-to-end’ incident. It kept jumping to the end. This time when I 'Left-Arrowed' back to the spot, then scanned backward a bit, I was able to FF or play again. While from time to time I have always had some jump-to-ends, not being able to continue playback from that point onward unless I backed up, is relatively rare. (Pre and Post TVGOS.)
What I normally do for FF, is to Pause, then Advance through news programs or commercials in a 'snapshot' sequence. This works great for a slide-like scenic show (Set at 2 or 5 seconds, mostly).
I will keep an eye out for Chapter Marks, but I believe I have about the same amount of problems or not, whether with or without added Chapter Marking.
Wednesday Night Reset Update:
This time, I did the Cold Reset at 11:55:05pm and adjusted my SR start/stop times 5 minutes ahead. No TWIN-DATE recording conflicts for a while.
