Hmm, ok, if I understand correctly, if we let our emotions at the door for a second, the only logical reasons for doing that would be for the possibility to deinterlaced a 1080i signal once it's IN the TV, well that make sense. Ok I understand a little more now, thanks for explaining. :)
Personally, I’m looking for a HD display for both my PC and my HT. 720p is far too small of a screen estate to work on (1080i as an interlaced resolution is terrible for text, and workstation work), so 1080p is the perfect solution for what I’m looking for. That’s why I embrace EVERYTHING that is LEANING toward 1080p, because the more 1080p stuff coming out, the chance becomes better for other 1080p stuff to come out, since every new technology is always a momemtum, right?
Another thing that I don’t understand, and maybe someone will be able to clear it up for me, is why this is such a big deal to people that Sony introduce their console with 1080p? I mean, I was expecting grand applause, ESPECIALLY HERE at AVS-Forums, but no, people are rather complaining about the fact that Sony doesn’t use current technology, and that they will force people to buy their 1080p sets... I don’t understand why it’s a big deal, if you don’t want 1080p, or you don’t have the money, well that’s fine (maybe you will upgrade down the road, it’s up to you), but for the time being you will be able to enjoy your games with the current TV you have in 720p, 1080i, 480p or even in 480i...
So I don’t understand, maybe I’m slow or something, but what’s the big deal? Why people are not HAPPY about the 1080p standard of the PS3?
