Use game pad for any PC game

I have a usb to PS2 adaptor so that I can use my Playstation 2 game pads on my PC. This is great for Emulation but I have always had trouble getting it to work for PC games. Last night I found a program called Total Game Control (http://www.digitaltransforms.com/) that lets you map keyboard and mouse commands to a joystick or gamepad. It will even let you map the mouse movement to an analog stick. It was a little hard to get setup at first, but once I figured it out it was a breeze. So far I have only tested it with Max Payne 2 and Guild Wars and it works really good. Unfourtunately the demo version will change your controller profile on you after about 10 minutes so it's something you have to pay for if you want to use it. I'll continue to mess with it and post any problems I find. For me this was a HTPC dream come true as I don't really care for using a wireless keyboard and mouse while sitting in my lazy-boy.

Now if they offered it the other way around, I may pick up one of the next-generation consoles. I can't stand controllers, mouse and keyboard all the way for me. YMMV.

Glad you're happy with it though.

Long-time lurker here, just registered to share some pertinent info. There is a freeware utility called "JoytoKey" that does this very thing. I also have a USB-PS2 adapter; I am using my PS2 pad now as a mouse,heh. :cool:
The author is Japanese, but there is an English version as well, with a great help file. There are TONS of features, like "phantom joysticks" for combination button presses and such, you can select which profile auto-loads at startup, and best of all, it's very easy to use! I played thru KotOR and mapped Guild Wars.

BTW, Imperator, noone believes me when I tell 'em I am playing Guild Wars with my PS2 pad, they assume the game is also for Playstation.

Well crap, wish I had found that before I paid for the other, oh well. I'll still try it out. Thanks HT_anime, Guild Wars does suprisingly work really well with the PS2 pad.

ControlMK is by far my favorite utility for mapping keyboard/mouse to a gamepad.

Not that I would use such a thing but is there a controller that you can actually buy that will work with most games?
I have friends that come over that are just totally disoriented when I let them play games on my PC, including FPS games. There must be a controller with some built in or downloadable control schemes.

I'm not sure if this is still true, but I remember my old Logitech Wingman Digital flight stick had control schemes that you could download and use with their utility. Maybe Logitech does something similiar with current gamepads?
