'NCIS' on CBS HD - Page 48

I'm always amazed at how many times a gunman (good or bad guy) will chase someone to kill them, only to start a discussion when they catch up w/ them and then the chasee somehow gets the drop on them. rolleyes.gif

Ya think wink.gif I think back on previous seasons and I can't remember the writing being this weak. Let's hope for a push for a decent story arc up to the end of the season.

That's number 3 on the list of how to write an action drama script. Number 1 and 2 are: good guy, and bad guy.

Nice to get Ducky and his assistant out of the lab once in a while. Good episode..

So the victim died in a neighborhood in richmond va. As a native richmonder I can't say that I've seen any mountains in our neighborhoods

The "mountain mistake" happens all too frequently on both TV shows and movies and has for decades.

The worst was in the movie Pearl Harbor where they are suppose to be training pilots to fly at a base on Long Island, NY. The Southern California mountains are clearly visible in some of the aerial shots.

I don't know. I watched the miniseries "Restless" on Sundance Friday night and they showed the Rocky Mountains as being in "French Canada" near Ottawa. Unbelievable!!!!

Last night's show (3/19/13)--IMO, the storyline of the Director (looking for a nanny), was complete and utter DRIVEL! An absolute waste of air-time. The storyline of the dog and the handler's murder were very good. They could have used the "drivel" airtime to really flesh out the investigation. Why in the heck do the writers put in this "touchy/feely" nonsense? The show is supposed to be about murder committed on naval personnel/analysis/detective work/apprehension of the perpetrator. I've watched NCIS since it was spun off from JAG many years ago. It seems that as time has passed, it has gotten more centered on "feelings" rather than crime drama. Also-does anyone else think that DiNozzo's character is getting rather stale? Time to upgrade him, I think.

Anyway, these are just my thoughts. YMMV. Any other comments along this line?

Do you realize that last night's episode was directed by Michael Weatherly?

Well, you pretty much summed up my feelings on the show. Somewhere, somehow the producers got the impression that this crxx is why the show is on top as opposed to the investigative crime drama that established it as a top show. The emphasis should be drama and not drivel. I don't think most folks GAS about these excursions. Establishing that the director needs a nanny is fine. What's worse was that the woman who is evidently getting the job is right out of a stereotypical profile that could have been the director's wife, but younger. This after a discussion with Ziva that he shouldn't try and replace his wife. Go figure. Liked the big story, hate the fluff.

Yes, as stated previously DiNozzo either needs to man up or get out. The attitude is wearing very very thin. I assume he was written as a foil for Gibbs, but Gibbs has been fleshed out over the years DiNozzo has not. I used to like the character, now I would not care if a bullet hit him between the eyes.

I agree. He is my least favorite character on (any) NCIS. He is so juvenile that it makes no sense to even hint at a relationship with Ziva. With her background, she would not stand anyone like Tony. He should grow up or be replaced.

In contrast, the bantering between Kensi and Deeks is fun. It's like neither one takes their one-upmanship seriously.

Ziva said it, Dinozzo was too quiet this episode, perhaps directing and acting at the same time was too much for Michael?

I liked the dog story, that was some awesome dog!

Yes-I did see his directing credit. I have no idea if this ties in to the banality of the "nanny" subplot in the program. Once again--take the show back to it's roots--detective work/twists & turns/fast-paced action. Do away with the worthless "touchy-feely" stuff. Just my opinion.

I was actually referring more to your comments about DiNozzo's character.
He's just directing from the script written by someone else.

Tom Cruise to be in "Man from U.N.C.L.E." Maybe Duckey could get a cameo role in the film biggrin.gif

The exact same thing happened in the movie Born on the Fourth of July. During the 4th of July parade scene in Massapequa, NY (my original home town on LI), there are mountains clearly in the background behind the parade. There are no mountains on the South Shore of Long Island. It is as flat as a pancake.

Dinozzo was best when he headed the team. To go back to being a ten-year flunkie is ridiculous. They need to write in him growing some stones.

What breed of dog was that? It appeared to have hair that won't shed something that is appealing after having two Akitas

Looked like a Lab to me, great looking dog.
Most definitely a black lab... He's so cute!
Regarding Dinozzo, I'd like to see him go head to head with Gibbs on some issue or case and he being correct in his actions. This would set up some tension within the team on who to follow and establish Dinozzo as his own man. As a result, they could even offer him his own team and make him have to decide what he wants to do including Gibbs dealing with the possible loss of Dinozzo from his team.
^^um,. he's already been offered his own team - several seasons back. Though it was done discreetly and the team didn't know about it. Obviously, he chose to stay with the team. Granted, he's a few years older, and the option may cause a different reaction at this stage in his career.

I do think he's regressed (as a character) the last couple of seasons from where he was toward the end of the previous Director's timeline, when he was initially offered a team. That was a mature, serious Tony then (well, as serious as the character can be).
Tony was also getting more serious as it seemed he and ziva were headed towards something as a couple and then that fell apart and he's back to clown tony. After 10 seasons its getting old

Lots of comments about DiNozzo acting so juvenile.. I'm getting tired of Ducky's assistant acting the same way. Funny comments followed by a smile wiped off his face by stares from Gibbs..smile.gif
post #1439 of 1491
+1, totally agree. Similar to the male support team character in NCIS:LA. Constantly saying or doing something lame or juvenile, then getting looks from the rest of the team before cowering back to what he was doing.

I did enjoy the episode though. No way his dad would have done the killing but made sense his assistant was motivated to do so. Only problem with these types of shows is that they have to show the bad guy in a speaking role at some time during the episode so there's never a large pool of suspects to chose from.

I kept waiting for Gibbs to pimp slap the asst.
