I haven't noticed that, but TNT is well known for having some of the sloppiest transmission issues at times.

Like what Patrick Jane has for the CBI.

Exactly what I was thinking about.

I thought the last two episodes were pretty weak even for the "comedy" interludes the show has, but this week's episode I thought was excellent in every respect. Great acting, clever editing and nicely structured. Knowing who was responsible at the beginning was a smart way to play with the formula. I can't remember if it's been done before on this show.

Dexter has one too.

^^We watch practically every episode, even reruns, and I don't recall them ever revealing the guilty party in the beginning in such a way before. I think the idea was to emphasize the necessity to build an airtight case for the maximum possible penalty given the status of the offender and that offender's arrogant belief in their ability to get off lightly due to that status--a belief the offender maintained to the bitter end.

I didn't get to see the 12/19/11 show until last night. I thought it was one of the all time best The Closer episodes. Elizabeth Perkins, who played the police commissioner's drunken, hit and run killer, wife has never been better. I liked the interplay between politics and police work portrayed in the episode. This is something the show has always done well. The Coser has done a remarkably good job of retaining its quality.

I'm going to add some spoiler space here since I think many people may be surprised there was a new episode last night.

I was surprised to see a new episode on 12/26, especially a "finale" that wrapped up the lawsuit storyline. I was disappointed. For a while, it looked like The Closer might be breaking new ground, by looking at its heroine from the viewpoint of those who believe the police abuse their authority. I wondered if this would be the storyline that would lead to the character's departure and the re-tooling of the series.

Apparently not. It was a good episode, lots of drama, but an abrupt closure to the lawsuit storyline and something of a cop-out, I thought, introducing an entirely new character to pin the whole scenario on.

However, they still didn't resolve the issue of the lawyer's inside man...to me, that's the real mystery of this season...

Have they finalized the cast for "Major Crimes" yet? Whoever's missing is the mole.

You're probably right.... But.... I don't want to know in advance, I'd rather see it play out!

For quite awhile it has been known that one character won't be returning, that is besides Sedgwick. Whether that person is the mole or not we'll find out when the final episodes air.

I think Gabriel's girlfriend is the leak. She is an aspiring lawyer, and Gabriel tells her everything, and has for the past year.

They haven't made Captain Raydor any more likeable. She is basically taking over the show in a couple of weeks. The previews depict her as a bada$$, but that is out of character as we have known her thus far.

Don't you remember this? She had no qualms about popping that guy in the face with a 12ga. beanbag. smile.gif

I disagree. Captain Raydor has considerably toned down her needling nastiness this season. At one time it seemed she enjoyed her assignment of investigating the Major Crimes unit. At this point she is no more than a stand-in for Chief Pope, performing a job she might be thinking is unwarranted and meddling.

It's been a long time since she wore the buckskin dress in Dances With Wolves.

If that is how they play this, I will be disappointed. It wouldn't be fair to have a leak storyline and then bring in a new character to be revealed as that leak. They might do it... but it would be a cheat to the viewers. There's no way for anyone to have even guessed since her character didn't really exist for us until this week.

I was hot for Stands With A Fist.

Did not see that coming until her mother said she needed to talk with her and Brenda put her off ........................frown.gif

Kyra owned that scene, brought tears to my eyes.

It was quite well hidden. When her mother was saying she had something important.. I was actually thinking the father's health was worse than he was letting on, and that was what she wanted to talk with Brenda about... so I didn't think anything was wrong with the mother until just before the last scene... Everyone is talking in the kitchen, and the mother is nowhere to be seen. That's when I started having that bad feeling.

Looks like Gabriel is the only one not in the Major Crimes spinoff.

Seems to me I saw the actor's name listed in a new show coming this fall, don't recall the name or the network though.

My internal auditor training told me that when Brenda blew her off the night before, that her mom wanted to talk with her about her (her mom) own health problems. Then, when she didn't come right down to breakfast, I knew she was dead. You guys need to watch more TV and you should have know also. smile.gif

YEAH WHAT THEY SAID +1

That sickly feeling you get in the pit of your stomach .... I know it well:mad:

Sorry, I meant Internal AUDITOR training, not just internal training. I corrected my post. Auditors question EVERYTHING, and so did I when Brenda's mom wanted to talk to her, especially since Brenda's dad was obviously getting better.

Yep, saw it coming.

Take it from someone that knows, that's the way to go. No laying around sick and dying. It's a jolt, but it is a blessing in ways.

Finally got around to watching the four episodes that have run since The Closer came back last month. I loved every one of them. The show has returned to its roots in that it spends a lot of time exploring Brenda Leigh's strengths and her weaknesses with equal detail. Although she is an excellent investigator and a world class interrogator, Brenda's emotional and overwrought personality, especially her inability to recognize her own weaknesses, create real strains on her relationship with her boss, Chief Pope. I have come to like Captain Raydor's character. She is gamely trying to stay loyal to both Pope and Brenda, while helping them mostly maintain an uneasy peace. The bureaucratic stresses Brenda's quirkiness create have been fascinating to behold. The show is finishing with stories and performances as strong as those it began with. That's very strong indeed.

Yes, I'll really miss that show having seen every episode "live" or recorded.
