Adelphia DVR vs. Tivo

I'm considering switching over to a DVR offered by Adelphia (if they offer one in my area, not sure) from my tivo. They just upgraded the software on all the digital cabvle boxes, I had no idea my DCT2000 could be so responsive. Infact, its now more responsive than my Tivo. I also liek this new interface much more than the Tivo interface... anyway, my main question is how do Adelphias DVRs compare to Tivo?

Well I just replaced my SD DirecTV Tivo with a SA 8300HD from Aldephia. I primarily wanted a HD DVR without paying the $500 net to get the HD Tivo. It is hooked up to my Panasonic AE-700 projector for HD and simultaneously a 25†CRT for normal viewing.

Here is what I found after one night of use:

Pros of 8300HD
-----------------------------
Great HD quality on premium HD channels (HBO, HDNET, ECT)
Good HD quality on local broadcast HD - we even get NESN & UPN HD!
Fast interface
Access to on-demand HBO and other on-demand content (free SD pre-recorded content stored by Adelphia)

Cons of 8300HD
-------------------------------
Poor (even useless at times) text searching
No 30-second skip
Channel guide layout not very efficient
As reported by others, when viewing a partially recorded program, it automatically goes to live.
Wife just got use to the Tivo, and now I changed it on her

I hope this helps,

Mark

Thanks. My Tivo has been unbarebly slow lately. It sits for 3 secords before even brining up the tivo menu. I have no idea what is up with it. I never used the 30 seccond skip on tivo, and rarely used searches. IU can't think of any time I have ever used the tivo guide either.
