I'm ready for the retail release! Although with new maps I don't know how we'll communicate flag locations without "construction site", "hotel", "beach"... :D

This is a really really fun game. I didn't know I would like a military-style game so much.

I did the pre-order on the retail today at EBGames. $5.00 deposit for Wed pickup and got a free Logitech headset which seems pretty important for this game. I'm excited to do a bit of playing. Once I get the game up and running, I'll register and post a username.

BTW - I'm an incorrigible teamkiller, swear like a 12 year-old on his first sleepover, and cheat (I have no idea why) all the time. As if that wasn't enough, I play in my leather thong and sweat profusely - for all those who need some imagery. :)

Ok, im coming to the party late. BF2 releases tomorrow correct? It handles custom resolutions like HL2 also? Do they offer a wireless head set for communication?

um yeah im clueless, but i would love to get into a game where i know there is a team of mature gamers.

You are right on time! We have only been playing the demo. Currently many of the stores like Gamestop have been offering a free headset so check with them.
Make sure you get Xfire & then jump on with us.

I think tomorrow is a ship date and weds it will actually be in stores.

Ragedog... we would love to have you! Squad teaming with voice through headset is the way to go if you find the right people. Check out the Xfire software and add us to your buddy list.

I know Xbox and select PC games have been doing the communication via headset for years, but I agree - it's so hit and miss finding the "mature gamers" as you put it. This message board seems to be a good place to meet decent folk. :D

I'm in for an AVS squad. X-Fire nickname: AVS|Dimetry. I'm usually in BF2 Demo as NBF|Tikcip or AVS|Dimetry. That is when I can be pulled away from Winter's Roar and CS:S.

Ya know I seem to remember having a lot more free time before getting Broadband. :o

You guys do realize that there is a Team AVS already, right? Granted, it was born from Halo 2 and Xbox but just to let you know.

I mean how could you miss the sticky that's been at the top of this thread for the past six months?

Spent most of the night scouring Houston for the retail version. No luck :(

Anyhow, I sent a bunch of you xfire xfire 'will you be my friend' requests. My xfire nick is AVS_uous and in-game I expect it to be uous---until I find the sneaky *&%#!# who stole my nick

Some of the new maps are really great. I'm enjoying the full release. I'm on vacation for a week or two, but look forward to getting up with some of you folks in the near future and getting some good teamplay down.
Yea, I tried a new map that takes place near a hydro-electric dam. The terrain is very tricky to drive over if you don't know where you're going... high ledges and steep inclines next to rivers. More than once I almost took my jeep w/ passanger for a "long dive into the deep end", if you get my meaning.

This offer is open to all of you guys. We have a 64 person BF2 server currently running as well as other games such as Call of Duty, Counter Strike:Source, and several Battlefield 1942 mods. You can find our forums over at www.ninjaserve.org

We also have a teamspeak server open to anyone playing on our servers. The IP is 63.85.17.90:8767

It'd be great to play with other HT enthusiasts. I'm tempted to hook my PC up to my 42" Sony LCD for a few days after I get my retail copy. ;)

BTW my XFire is Stryker412, hope to see you guys on.

Sweet, can't wait to join up with some of you guys tonight.

I should have the full copy this afternoon.
Got my copy from futureshop one day in advance....lucked out. They just got it in the door as I was there talking to a sales rep about it. They let me have it today instead of thurs the official date. Tried it out quickly after the install before I went to work. Only tried one map. Its large. All the air jock's will luv it.
I'm going to be waiting on my copy from EBGames for a couple of days, which is gonna suck because my H31 and BF2 will be hitting on the same day probably ;)

I'm gonna head to compUSA on saturday and get myself a cheap joystick for flying the attack helo's and jets...the ground vehicles and the transport helos are fine with m/k.

Anyhow if you dont already know...its HeadRusch on xfire, in game, and so on. And if you dont bother to join a squad, you're essentially playing alone because then you'll never have voice communication and you'll never have orders set. Nor will you be able to identify your teammates on the map.

Squads are what its all about...

Would you not admit that "Team AVS" is used only in the loosest possible definition in regards to Halo? I try to bring up the forum with the 13 year old kids on Halo and they have no idea what I'm talking about. Very few of the people on Halo are actually forum regulars. They appear to be peoples kids, or friends of friends of people on the forum.

I'd like to game with people that actually participate in other forums than just the Home Theater Gaming Forum.

A TRUE AVS clan.
I think anyone using XFire at this point (myself, DaverJ, everyone else) is most assuredly at least of college age....but.....not all of us are mature........ =P

What I like: People who actually try to play the game and still have a good time. If you dont want to hear me singing RIDE OF THE VALKYRIES while I pilot you in the blackhawk, DONT join my squad ;) I'm not saying I will....every time....but I MIGHT.... :)

What I DISlike: People who take the game too damn seriously. People who will lecture me on the proper way to execute a flanking attack on an entrenched enemy after I die. These players can collectively KMA.

I'm not interested in playing in a regular clan that tries to turn this funtime activity into a 2nd job, joining tournaments for money and garbage like that.

So long as Team AVS remains a fun thing, I'm all down wit it!
HeadRusch - I think we're on the same page. I just like playing. I just started playing Battlefield and really don't find the guys yelling noob all the time that helpful.

I think having a list of folks from here on XFire is good because you can be sure to find a game where folks will use the squads and at least try to work as a team.
I'll second what HeadRusch said. I want to have fun and rarely care about the score. The comradery involved (VOIP) makes it feel more fun. What I hate, and find all the time on Xbox Live, is those that have fun by doing what they can to ruin others' fun.

Agreed.

do you see how long the Team AVS thread is? I guess thats not real enough?
Can we try to get a game going tonight with those that have the full game?

I'll be back from tennis around 8:30 CST.

Mister, if you're in my squad you had better lose that attitude. The AVS Squad will operate like a well-oiled killing machine. Because I am hard, you will not like me. I am hard but...

....I'm just kidding. I just want to have fun, too. I've got the game in my hot little hands but I'm stuck at work.

Thank you to EA for the nice packaging! It comes in a high quality plastic DVD case instead of a cheap cardboard box. Europeans have been getting PC games this way for years. It's about time.
