CSI on CBS - Page 24

The little girl called him "Squeegol"... a mispronunciation of "Smeagol"? because she's seen LotR - the killer is Andy Serkis!

The Sqweegel character is based on an interactive book authored by Anthony Zuiker, the former Las Vegas tram driver who came up with the idea for CSI and became the producer of the show and it's spinoffs.

Haven't been logging the rock-music/lab-analysis, but couldn't miss Thursday's sequence. As usual, expected to see a rock band and singer performing in the lab...or at least a lab tech over-cranking a hi-fi amp. :-) Good drama overall. A welcome multi-parter. Wish more series would do this. -- John

ding, ding, ding. We have a winner. You are correct!

I watched most of
Episode Title: 'Sqweegel' Episode Number: 1104
Original Airdate: October 14, 2010
and it looked like CSI:LV went with digital HD camera acquisition like the other series instead of 35mm film.
last I read:
CSI: New York and CSI: Miami will create new episodes using digital cameras, but CSI: Crime Scene Investigation continues to use 35mm film.

Is this true?
Did this start with this season?
I viewed it on a 720p 32" HDTV so not fully detailed to see.
I can't answer that because my CBS station has switched to a 720p station, so everything on every show seems off to me.

Maybe each one, other than Langston, gets to take a week off.

Anyone noticed the last two weeks there has been a Grissom reference? I know they have mixed in one every so often during last season. But this is the first time they've referenced him in back-to-back episodes. And they keep showing Sarah in the conversation, but nothing is mentioned about her being in Vegas and Grissom being somewhere else. Wonder if these references will lead to a one-episode appearance by Grissom?!?

I've also been wondering about Sarah being back and what's really going on between her and Grissom at this point. They've never explained why she returned to Vegas.

I agree, good episode about the hoarding.

No it isn't. This episode hit close to home for me because my mother and aunt have these tendencies. Growing up our house was clean but as she got older my mother just stopped and started collecting newspapers and magazines she hasn't read and uses food containers again and again, imagine newspapers piled up on the kitchen table that are months old and reusing yogurt cups and you'll begin to see what I see. I can't stay for very long when I visit my parents or i'll begin to get nervous.

My aunt has stacks of crap everywhere in her house and there is a trail to get around. Both are a result of growing up during the depression and saving what you can but there is a mental illness associated with this behaviour as well.

I grew up in a dirty house and vowed I wouldn't live like that, as a result my house is spotless most of the time.

Techies may not be hoarders but many of us get so busy we never get around to cleaning house. So things fall behind. And some folks can straighten up a room in 30 minutes when it might take some of all all day. People who were raised keeping their rooms straight grew up thinking nothing of housekeeping where as others not raised that way may have messy houses. It all depends on priorities.

Wendy (Liz Vassey) fans can see her in this week's Two and a Half Men (in which she claimed to be 47 years old in reality she is 38).

The third straight week that Grissom's name gets mentioned. Something has to be up with that. I don't think he name was mentioned three times last season, let along three straight episodes.

I really liked last night's episode. The feel of an old movie with some of the shots and storyline was really good. The whole thing between Greg and Ellen was refreshing for this show. I hope they can produce more episodes like this one.
I agree, very film noir. It reminded me of Ending Happy from Season 7.
Definitely enjoyed last night's episode, as well. Lots of film noir references and noir-like music. Did anyone notice the one lingering shot towards the end of the episode with a tight close-up of a "haunted looking" Greg in the left half of the screen, with the blurry background happenings in the right half? Very old-school noir (can't think off-hand of a particular old movie that used that camera composition, but there's gotta be some ... help, anyone?)

And one of the final lines: "For what it's worth, I loved you since Tuesday." That one is excellent.

I think some of the best CSI episodes have been derivative - one of my all-time favorites is Rashomama (takeoff on Rashomon).

Part of me thinks they should have done it all in black and white, but that might have been too over the top.

On CBS's 'CSI,' an old star's return
Or so it's reported that William Petersen will return

By Louisa Ada Seltzer, Media Life Magazine - February 3rd, 2011

Nothing says sweeps like a big guest star, and the reported return of former series star William Petersen is about the best "CSI" could do for tonight at 9 p.m. on CBS.

Since Petersen's departure two years ago, "CSI" has seen its ratings decline drastically. Peterson's absence has played some role, but a lot of other factors have as well, led by increased competition from "Grey's Anatomy" and "The Office." And the procedural has suffered as well from aging, which is no real surprise considering it's 10 years old.

CBS has been coy about Petersen's return, refusing to confirm whether he'll be back in tonight's episode, which focuses on the mother of the character he played for so many years, Gil Grissom.

But word has leaked onto the internet that Petersen is indeed set to appear, and his appearance would fit naturally into the storyline, in which Grissom's wife, Sara (Jorja Fox), finds out about a relationship in her husband's past.

"CSI" is averaging a 3.2 adults 18-49 rating this season, down from a 3.4 last year and on pace for its lowest-rated season yet.

Petersen's appear could give the show a needed boost.

Even with Petersen, though, "CSI" would face a hard slog.

Every network has originals on this first night of February sweeps, and Fox's competing "Bones" and "The Office" both hit season highs or near-highs in recent weeks.

Was last night's appearance his only one this season? You would think they'd want to promote it with ratings dipping. They definitely didn't promote it last night.

Not sure if there will be more Grissom this season. He really wasn't in this episode much either. He need to come back and help them find "I Am No One" killer. This was a very good episode. Marlee Matin is really good looking. Marg Helgenberger is looking better too, she changed her hairstyle or something.

Wow. Fantastic episode tonight.

10/10

Agreed. I prefer having storylines in one episode like the show used to be, keeps things more interesting.

I'd fire everybody on duty and give the switcher Haskell's sentences. Absolutely ludicrous. At least they killed off Bieber.

Another really good episode last night. The storyline with the pregnant girl and her baby was really moving, especially for someone like me with two young girls of my own. And Langston going for help from Lady Heather has lots of potential.
