Your Marantz is THX Ultra2 certified and should be able to drive a bus! The Rotel won't get you anything appreciable.

I'd add a sub before adding an external amp, you'll get far more benefit overall.

Ah, they weren't on your list so I assumed your were sub-less.

Hey guys just wondering about the Monitor 11's v.6. I have them as front speakers and one seems to have more outpout power to the subs and midrange speakers compared to the other one! Just wondering if thahts common to have different oompfh from the speakers or should they pretty much be bang on the same? I am considering taking the one Monitor 11 speaker down to where I purchased them to have it tested. Thanks for your info/input. Thanks!

I have possibility to buy power amplifier Rotel RB981. The price is very low. That is why I am thinking - what will be the best option (?)
Stay with amplifier only or buy this power amp.
What can be the benefit of the second option??

The rest of my speakrers are:
FRONT: STUDIO 60v4
CENTER: STUDIO CC690v5
SURROUND: OW MONITOR 5 v.3
REAR SURROUND: STUDIO 40v4

You and I have a very similar set up and I was powering everything with my 4308 which did a pretty good job but I wanted more so I added an amp and then another. I have listened to my CC-690 with and without amplification and no you do not need one but once you have one the quality of sound and detail at the higher db is amazing. Just got done watching Counting Crows and Daughtry on Soundstage and WoW!!

Unit: Denon 4308
Blu-Ray: Denon BDP-1611UD
Front Speakers: Paradigm Studio 100 v.5
Center Speaker: Paradigm CC-690 v.5
Surround Speakers: ADP-590 v.5
Sub: SVS PB13 Ultra
Amps: XPA-2 and XPA-3 (considering XPR-5)

You might start by switching out the speakers - hook up the left speaker to the right output on your AVR & right to left - to determine if you have a speaker issue or an amp issue.

I am going to switch the speakers and do that when I get home. What if its an Amp issue? Take it back and get a new one or can it be fixed by some of the settings?

+1
also move the left sp to the right side and right sp to left side (dif. location ~ dif. sound), is one of them closer to the side/back wall then the other ?

Thats an ok price. I got a pair of Monitor 11's v.6, CC-290 v.6, pair of ADP-390's v.6 and a DSP 3200 v.2 all for $2500 no tax. I thought that was a pretty good deal so I went for it. Hope its a good deal! hahahaha otherwise I got screwed bigtime!

I switched the speakers and its the exact same thing so that means nothing wrong with my speakers its something with my AVR not sending the exact same watts to the speakers then most likely......I have a 5 year warranty on the AVR should I return it for a new one or its not worth it?

I just picked up a pair of Studio 20's v5 (can't wait to get them I have loved these speakers for a long time)

I would like recommendations on a center channel for the new studio 20's? what would you folks recommend that would be a good match even in an older line that may be had on audiogon? I could of course go new as well.

Since you have a 5 year warranty - I would definitely take advantage of the return/replacement option. No reason to keep a piece of equipment if it is not performing to specifications & is covered under warranty.

Integra DHC 40.1 processor

Question: Has anyone else run a 'traditional' speaker as center channel and then compared it to running a dedicated CC (horizontally oriented) speaker. I love my Studio 20, but sometimes it feels that the sound source is too focused for the CC mix material. I was wondering if a true horizontal CC speaker will even out the CC material over a wider soundstage.

Any thoughts?

If the studio 20 is vertical then switching should not help. If it is laying down then a purpose built CC might sound better.

Well, I finally got my new Paradigms delivered this past monday, and today I took a few photos to post. I really like the look with the grills off, but due to many small children frequently in the house, I'm going to leave them on. So a few each of them "clothed" and "naked"

The mains are Studio 100 V.5, center is CC-590 V.5, surrounds are ADP-390 V.5 and the sub is an SVS PB12-Plus. It does not really show in the pictures, but the rosenut color on the Paradigms is almost identical to the rosenut on the SVS which is great. I was expecting the colors to be way different.

Also : I have an extra metal film reel artwork exactly like the one hanging on my wall in the pictures for $75.00 shipped. In the lower USA only please as it's too much extra $$$ to export. Size is approx. 22 H x 38 W. PM me if you're intrested. Thanks.

Nice setup man! But I think your TV stand is backwards. It looks like that support in the middle should be the back. Having the center channel recessed like that is not good for sound quality.

Awsome! Yeah, you should turn the TV stand around;then the support won't be in front of the cc-590's tweeter and midrange and you can move the 590 forward so it's on the same plane as the 100's. What's with the dual cassette deck?

THX1720, thanks for the compliments. Nope, the tv stand is correct. The center support can only be in the front. I tried removing it, but the shelfs started to bend a bit as my Pioneer Elite PRO FHD1 is about 90 pounds. Also, the holes in the shelfs are in the rear to pass cables through. The center channel is not recessed as much as it looks in the pictures. I placed it a bit further back as I did not want the speakers right behind the support brace. It sounds terrific. Also, look at the matching stand for the components, same thing as far as shelfs and bottom tubing are concerned.

sofast1...you have a great set of eyes. Yep, that is a dual Sony cassette deck. Probably 15 years old, at least. It still works great, though I rarely use it anymore. Got it before you could burn your own cd's ( I think ) and I still have lots of home made cassettes, so why not LOL

Looking good Ferrari fan! I was waiting to see these photos and it turned out perfect. Was there more of a delay than you were expecting? Were you happy with the overall cost and did they set it all up and make it sound good before they left? You must be loving life. I am on a motorcycle ride with my wife in Cabria but I just had to comment.

Thanks Denon. There were a few delays. The SVS PB12-Plus was delayed an extra week on the shipping as SVS delayed all the PB12-Plus's for some reason. And it arrived about 2 weeks ahead of the Paradigms, which were dealyed about 1 1/2 weeks as I think my dealer forgot to order them. Thank God I sent him a pm to let him know that the sub had arrived and he called me and said they were delayed, then which I think he ordered them.

While I was somewhat upset about this, they did deliver and set up the main and center channel speakers as well as the sub ( ADP-390 surrounds were already up ), and tweaked everything out way better than I could using Audessey on my Onkyo. They used an sound meter, SPL I think it's called. I'm gonna have to pick one up.

Still 85 hours away from the 100 recommended hours of breaking in on the Paradigms, but they already sound way better than my old Klipsch reference speakers

Can anyone confirm if a tweeter from an ADP-470 v3 can replace a tweeter in a Studio 60v3?

They have the same part #, but the ADP tweeters look something like this:
2030700013 1003. On both tweeters... so they match exactly. but the Studio 60 tweeter has the same 203070013 but then a different 1203.

I know ADPs have specific L/R assignments, so I'm questioning if that is built into the tweeter at all or just into the internal electronics.

Other than these 4 #s, everything visible matches 100%

Thanks!

can't you pick the stand up and rotate it 180 degrees? then turn the TV and center channel around? That stand has to be backwards. The weight of the TV would be over the center support preventing the shelves from bending.

I definitely seems off, but I guess it's made for electronics or decorations, not a center channel speaker. I think he's saying there is a bar in the back as well, with holes for wires, unlike the front bar which seems to be only support.

As long as it sounds good that's what matters, but it has to be affecting the sound, which would bother me knowing I spent thousands on speakers, and I'm not hearing them correctly. (even if I liked it)

I could do that, but then it would be wrong. As I mentioned in my reply to THX1720, each shelf has a hole about 2 inches in diameter to pass cables through. I can understand why it seem as if the pole should be in back, but it's not made that way.

Here is a link to the manufactures website that show I have it correct.

I does not affect the audio from my center channel. The speaker is about 4 inches behind the support pole. I also have tried placing the speaker on a temp stand directly in front of the tv and also slightly behind and slightly above the tv as if it were on a shelf mounted to the wall.

In every position, using movies and 5.1 music, it sounded the same. At leat to me it did, which is what counts Also, just one support bar, not two. And like I mentioned, each shelf has a 2 inch diameter hole in the rear to pass cables through.

Do you have everything set to small and 80Hz? Also are you running the SVS hot 5 to 10 db? I am loving my SVS PB too. The sound meter you are looking for can be had at Radio Shack for about 40 dollars. Do you have a good blurry player for movies?

Sounds good! BTW it looks like an awesome setup. Those speakers are beauties. I just picked up a pair for like new (used) v3 100s but would love the 5s!

I don't recall what settings the tech set everything to. On my reciever, there is no small or large setting. But they are set to small if that makes sense, by they way he crossed everything over. I'll try and check tomorrow on the settings.

The sub is definatly hot. The rears are also set a bit louder than an auto calibration system like Audessey would set them at. I like just a tad bit more sound coming from the surrounds than if everything was equally set.

As far as my players...
Blu ray : Oppo BDP-83
HD : Toshiba HD-A35
Laserdisc ....Pioneer Elite CLD-99
