Onkyo 5008 and 3008 can be had for under $2000 on sale on Amazon. Look on the weekend that's when they go on sale. I like Anthem, but the loosing point is their limited HDMI inputs. I don't like switches so the Anthems are out of the equation for me until they add more inputs.
This raises an issue I've wondered about as I have the MRX-700. How effective is an HDMI splitter? Would one expect degradation of say two video devices sharing via a splitter?

Or he can go for the denon 4311ci, audyssey xt32 and dual subwoofer callibration.
ok quick question i can either get the studio 100 v4 or the sig 40 v2. I have about 2700 cubic feet in my man cave and already have a nice onkyo 3007 receiver. I listen to about 70% music and 30 percent movies. They both can be had for the same price. Which one would you guys take? Oh BTW i am coming from polk rti a9 speakers as my front channel, with an hsu vtf3 ho sub. I do love to listen to my music in only two channels though. Any suggestions will be really really appreciated.
I am in the middle of remodling my basement, and have all my audio gear unhooked and put away for the time being. My room project will be done in another month or 2. So in the middle of the remodling i decided to buy a new amp and tower speakers! I was running a yamaha rxv 596, Klipsch KSF 8.5s floorstanding speakers, focal chorus 800v center and rears with a reel 12" sub.
So i replace the yamaha amp with a pioneer elite sc35, and the klipsch fronts with paradigm monitor 7 v4s. Does anyone run the monitors with pioneer elite, if so how do they match up? also has anyone run monitors with focal? how does it sound? I guess in short how is my system going to sound?
Thanks in advance.
I'm using an Elite 21 with Monitor 11's front, Atoms surround, 290 center and PDR-12 sub...sounds great.
I love the match.

I've heard that you have to get a quality switch so you picture quality stays the same. Fo me I multi task too much, watch a show switch to play a game on commercials ect. I would want all of my HDMIs running into the receiver for the sound quality as well. I'm sure this is something that others can look past, but not me.

I have the Monitor 11s with adp 390 for rears, but I'm running a cheap Yamaha for now. Let me know how your sc35 sounds. I like the matching speakers all around when playing a game for example like dead space 2 you can spin around while someone is talking and the sound is perfectly matched all around. It's great for movies as well but I used the game example because you can control the sound direction of the game.
I have now officially joined "the Paradigm owners club". Just ordered a lovely pair of Studio 100s in Rosenut. I should have them in about 1.5 to 2 weeks.
Unfortunately, I'll be driving them with an Onkyo TX-R705 (100wpc) at first until I save enough for a supplimental amp. (I figure 100 to 150 wpc in addition to the receiver will do nicely in the horsepower dept). I also need to save up for a center which will most likely be either the CC-490 or CC-590 or even the SE center. I have height restrictions and I'm also 80% music / 20% HT so no need to blow four digits on a center for my world.
I'm seriously thinking about purchasing monitor 9s, but I have read reviews about their tweeters blowing. Anyone have that experience or heard the same thing. I really like the way they sound, but I don't want to deal with the tweeter issue if there is one.

I have two pairs in our show room that get turned up very loud at demo time no problems at all also the 100 or so pairs that we have setup in clients homes and have never had any come back and that's over a 14 year span.
I have played my monitors at full volume on my 876 on more than one occasion. Never had one issue, the only thing I can say is at high volume, depending on the source, you have have compression of the signal. (dynamic range reduced) But I believe thats more the amp than the monitors. Btw monitor 11's v6

Awesome I will let u know for sure!! Thanks for the reply
My LCR are Paradigm Studio 100's.
Subwoofer is Sub 15.
I wanted to use Dipole speakers for my surrounds.
My room layout does not allow In wall surrounds.
I am debating 3 options here:
1. Use Paradigm SA-ADP in wall and mount them on ceiling. Will it be too heavy? Do I have to have special brackets to mount it.
2. Use Paradigm SA-15SM and wire it in such a way that it acts like a dipole
3. Buy something like Triad Bronze 4/ Surrounds which are dipole and go into ceilings
I am trying to get used Studio 20 speakers. If I select Rose nut color for my media room, do you think any light reflection compared with black ash. Is Rosenut dark color with less glossy?
I have around 12 to 14 inch space between wall to the screen on either side.
What is the cheaper option to buy stands for Studio 20s?. I am considering center speaker as 590. Do you usually place center on stool or something? I have only 12 inches from floor to the screen.
I was considering 60s. All sales men from different dealers and pardigm support team recommended to go for 20s for home theater setup since with subfoower they don't make difference. I was told that 60's are little dynamic at louder volumes. I don't use loud volume. Appreciate any input
Rosenut is not reflective. They are what I would describe as a satin finish. For that matter, black ash isn't really reflective either - maybe a bit more than the rosenut.
And if you are looking for speaker stands, I recommend searching this thread. There have been many, many discussions on speaker stands and some of them very recent.

So I'm now running a pair of rosenut SE1's off a Yammy v-1065 and debating on picking up a sub that pairs well. Anyone listened to or running one of the SE subs? I've listened to three comparable subs in size and price from klipsch, mirage and sunfire. This is in the living room and it's not a need, but I'd like to match finishes.
It's probably easier to blame the GF....but I can't find the metal connectors that bind my posts together on my Monitor 9's (as I took them off to bi-amp a few weeks ago).
Since I am moving my system around and do not want to bi-amp anymore due to wire hassle, can I just use extra pieces of speaker wire to connect the sets of posts together, or do I need the metal piece for optimum *blah blah blah*?
Robert9674 just opinion and you really need to hear them to compare, but here goes. The Sig 4's sound better in the treble and mid's, the 100's should play louder and dig a little deeper in the bass. I feel that both benefit from a sub.
So who won the eBay auction today for the CC-590 in rosenut that I was lusting over? Somebody got a nice deal!!!
Lol, that's hilarious - it was me
Couldn't resist, needed something to match up to my new 100 v5's as I was previously on v2's. I don't currently have room for the titanic cruise ship that is the CC-690.
I currently have another thread considering the MFW15 Turbo upgrade in the sub woofer section, however I had to come over to the Paradigm area to find out from you SUB15 owners if you knew what would be better.
Currently I own Studio 100's v5 for fronts and Studio 60's v5 for rears (CC-590 v5 for center). I also run two MFW-15's for the sub option, however one of the amps has decided to die so now I am facing either the repair kit for the MFW-15's, the Turbo upgrade kit - or simply ditching them and buying a SUB15 w/PBK.
I am wondering if one SUB15 w/PBK would out perform a set of MFW15's, even with the Turbo upgrade kits and is the money worth it to go with a SUB15 instead?

I would say that the sq would go up over the MFW's but the output will go down. There's no way a single sealed sub is going to compete with dual ported subs in spl's. I've had my Sub 15 for over a year and prefer sealed over ported subs. You should go listen to one and see what you think of the Sub 15, for roughly the same price you could get the Funky Waves 18.0 which will have more output and should have even higher sq than the Sub 15. I'll be making the move to the Funky Waves sometime this year.

I got these for my studio 20s and I love them. http://www.standsandmounts.com/vtidf...tandsdf24.aspx
I've seen someone on here that has the v5 Studio 10s on them and they look good too. You can remove the little VTI sticker at the bottom.

I compared the Sigs against the Studios and I though they were very close in the treble and mids. Actually, as I recall, they were matched in the mids, but the treble on the sigs was subtlely better than the Studios. Anyway, that's just what I heard, it's totally subjective.
I went with the Studio 100 because I couldn't afford the Sigs and didn't see the cost effectivness in getting them. I was going to go with the 60s as I have a nice HSU sub, but soon to move into an apartment type situation I'm reluctant to hookup the sub so I went with the 100s for there ability to reach a bit lower in the bass. (Still for HT a sub would compliment nicely).

Thank you for your response. I guess I'll go with the 100's . Does anyone know where I could find a good price on these, or better yet a round about price range to expect to pay.?
Trying to make a decision between using Studio 20's or ADPs for rears. Will be building a dedicated home theater wired for 7.1, but for the time being will be purchasing a 5.1 setup with Studio 60's and CC-690 in a family room / great room where the couch will be in the middle of the room with no walls to mount ADPs on.
Is it a good idea to use Studio 20's on stands behind the couch, or will ADPs work on stands? I've always heard bipoles/dipoles are better mounted on walls.
When I upgrade to 7.1, will it be better to have 4 ADPs, or should I have ADPs for the surrounds and Studio 20's for the backs?
